Spoofed Numbers

How many of you have had a call saying they missed a call from you when you didn't call them? I have had it happen a few times and my call history clearly shows only the incoming call. Seems like the phone companies could figure out a way to stop number spoofing.

Had someone call yesterday. recording wanting to lower my cc interest rate. I hang up and call the number back. Some lady answers. I ask her if she had just called that her number showed up on my phone. She said she didn't call me.
I began to talk to her and she just lives about 10 miles from me.
Somehow these idiots are stealing people's numbers and calling

They aren't stealing the numbers. They are spoofing the numbers.

'Medical Supply' rang me up at 8:05 this morning. (313 788 1404, spoofing 'local') Not "__ Medical Supply" just a phony generic description, as is characteristic of robodialers.

I've never yet had a legitimate caller just list their biz vs their name. Google is you friend, and I urge all to use it to vet unfamiliar numbers. If the search shows "800 notes" or "Nomorobo" on the first page you can block or delete the number and get on with your life.

Interesting to hear so many get bogus calls from an actual person. Most of the calls I get are recordings claiming to be from my credit card.

The part I find troubling is them using legitimate numbers and spoofing them into the caller id. My daughter called back a number recently and got hold of a very belligerent person. I guess he was fed up with people calling him saying they missed a call from his number.

So far I have only had 2 calls saying they missed a call from me that I didn't make.

My wife got a call the other day saying she was going to be arrested if she didn't call this number back about some "legal lawsuit" cause you know, there are a lot of "illegal lawsuits" too. I searched the number on Bing and it came up something Chinese.

I got a call a few weeks ago asking if I had called, it was someone in Florida. I said nope, he ask who is this? I said I don't know who you are and hung up.

Me too!

When I cussed them out I got MORE calls. My salvation was engaging them in a short conversation, then lower the boom, letting them know I was a mental patient anxiously waiting for their call, asking if they were naked, whatever demented thing came to mind...and please call back!
That stopped calls, home and cell.
It's reverse psychology, begging them to please call because you enjoy telling them off!
