Fuddy lots of cool stuff there. That Craftsman machinist chest is stellar!

The second pic from bottom kinda looks like a plate clamp.

I’m assuming the numbers in your user name are YOB? If so I’m a year older than you
Yes we're close. Wife was born in 1954 so I'm always messing with her being a little kid. My Brother born in 49. Grandparents born in late 1800s, as I'm sure yours were.
Horse and buggy days, grew up seeing introduction and progress of cars, man landing on the moon, home computer.

Dang, Terry! Where are you finding this stuff? On second thought... maybe a good thing I have a day job and don't have time to hunt.

I'm thinking if he keeps going at this rate, they're going to have to counter-balance the Island !

Lots of neat stuff posted lately.

Rgds, D.

The green item in the second picture from the bottom appears to be a cable or rope clamp to me. It has a groove for the cable or rope to sit into when it clamps down onto it.

Okay. That vintage wood trimmer I picked up yesterday is now cleaned up and working perfectly. I can’t bring myself to dismantle it just to use the stand so plan “A” is history.

I’ll try to find a good home for it. Maybe a Vintage tool collector or avid woodworker.

It scales in at 302 pounds.

I’m only into it for $50 so I’m fine

You absolutely cannot behead that thing. I will come rescue it but you will be out a stand.

I've gotten along quite well for a long time without a wood shaper. But I recently installed new Anderson windows that need tongue and groove jamb extensions. And my wife is asking for a reproduction walnut bookcase that needs profiled edges.

Long story short, I figured I needed to get a router table. Looking at router tables, the good ones are quite expensive. And the reviews are not all that great even for top of the line tables.

So then I decided to look at shapers. These cost $700 -$1300. Even the Harbor Freight version is $400.

So then, just this morning, I decided to look at Craigslist. There was a 1985 Rockwell 43-122 shaper for $150, including a whole lot of cutters. So I got it.

It has the original 110-220 1hp Rockwell motor, and only two of the cutter sets have even been used. I don't think it was used very much at all. In the operators manual was the original receipt, $510. That works out to about $1200 in 2018 dollars.

There were several of the much heavier unisaw-base Rockwell shapers also for sale but 3-4x as expensive and about 4x as heavy. So anyway this will do what I need.

I find Craigslist to be unpredictable and usually disappointing, but this time it really came through.

Nice score. I’m looking forward to seeing the bookcase.

It's nothing like what you guys are posting, but a few years back my father gave me a chest of tools which originally belonged to a neighbor's relative who was a carpenter in NYC back in the 1940's.
