A month ago a friend ordered a new rotary screw compressor as he was looking for closer to 100% reliability to replace his 9 year old model. They installed the new one this week and today I picked up his old one.

It’s a Quincy with a new 40 HP Baldor motor installed earlier this year. Came with spare filters, belts, misc spare parts and synthetic oil ($504 Cdn per 20 litre pail), service records and work orders since new.

Very nice, 40hp is a pretty good size! I dont think I would want to pay the electric bill to run that. My new shop will have 2 5hp IR T30's. Really want a screw compressor but it's out of the budget.

What's the cfm on it?

I wasn’t in the market for a compressor but I couldn’t turn this one down. A 15 HP would have been more than fine for me.

The CFM is around 190 iirc.

Yeah unless you do a lot of heavy blasting that's probably overkill, at least the screw's have a lower in rush for startup compared to the piston type.

Guess while were talking compressors I can post my 2 older t30's for my shop. Best I can tell they were all USA made.

Here’s the 5HP Atlas Copco we bought new for the farm to run our carrot packaging machines back in the late 1970’s.

Relocated to the parts room but still trouble free 40 years later.

Bought myself a welder tonight. Probably a mid 1950’s Forney 180 amp buzz box. Made in USA. $40 Cdn complete with cables.

They were the Swiss army knife of welders in their day. Always worked good. That one looks to be in pretty nice shape !

I will need to add a bottle opener.
