there may be a way to both protect your livestock and spare the life of someone's pet. Possibly using a non lethal method where the dogs will get the message loud and clear. I just think what goes around comes around. I try to use the least costly method whenever I have to deal with someone else's property/pet

Such as? If I catch a 75# dog attacking the cows, or in the chicken coop that doesn't turn tail and run when it sees me, the simplest, cheapest and most efficient way to handle it is with sudden onset lead poisoning. While I dont want to kill a dog, if it is attacking the cows, I am not going to risk getting attacked by a dog who is unhappy that I am disturbing them, and its not humane to the critters to have the dog come back to attack them when I am not around.

If a large breed, especially a pit or GSD or Rottie charges a cop on a call, chances are highly likely the dog will get shot.

Cops receive training for this.

A gun is a tool. How it’s used is the operators fault not the tools. If someone dies of obesity it wasn’t a spoons fault. If someone dies in a car crash it wasn’t the cars fault. If someone drowns it wasn’t the pools fault. If someone gets beat to death with a bat it wasn’t the bats fault. If a plane gets hijacked it wasn’t the planes fault. If a bomb blows up a building it wasn’t the bombs fault. If someone gets shot it’s the guns fault. Ok makes perfect sense.
