Good morning!!!!

71°F and .05 inches rain.
John came home from hospital yesterday after 3 days of intensive testing with no clue what caused his incident of passing out Wednesday. Said his heart was that of a 53 yo, he’s 70. One Dr told him that around 20% of cases like his remain undetermined. Not sure how comforting that is.
No big plans for the day. Putter a bit, football, our Sunday card game.
Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

In other neighborhood news, a man's body was found by sheriff's helicopters in a canyon not far from here last week. Two days later, a nearby marijuana grow was raided, hundreds of plants were destroyed, and one person was arrested. The surprising thing is that a dozen or so out of staters were present at the time of the bust, at least half of them from Europe. It could be that the helicopter over flights looking for the man, who had been reported missing in the area a week earlier, also turned up the grow area. More likely in my mind is that the body is somehow tied in with the grow, and there's a lot more of the story still to emerge. I've got nothing against people that choose to use marijuana, medical or otherwise, but this kind of activity has caused a lot of anxiety and suspicion in the neighborhood, and a lot of us are wondering just how safe we are now.

I sure would be worried. Take care of yourself.

The thing about it is, once you go up a level or so, the money side of it leads to violence...

The thing about it is, once you go up a level or so, the money side of it leads to violence...

It's happening even with small grows that are in compliance with local ordinances. All the thieves need to do is look at Google Earth to see who's got a "garden", wait for harvest time (now), and bust the door down at 2AM and wave around an "assault rifle" to get a small fortune in dope and money. And if the idiots get the wrong address, easy to do at that hour of the morning, ANYBODY could find themselves at the wrong end of a gun. Almost as bad, after the ripoff, the victim starts looking at their neighbors with suspicion, and the tensions go even higher.

Something needs to be done to take the financial incentive out of marijuana cultivation. It's legal to grow at the state level here, as long as the zoning ordinances are adhered to. But the special taxes and fees associated with legal distribution and sales have driven retail prices well over what's available on the black market, so there's plenty of incentive to break the rules. Even when they catch someone, unless they're also manufacturing honey oil, are polluting local streams, have significant :pullinghair: land grading, have a large amount of processed "product", large amounts of cash, or illegal firearms/magazines on hand, all they get is a misdemeanor, so there's no jail time and only trivial monetary penalties.

Home from camping. Light rain when we left. Everything put away, drained water tank.

Was around 40° this morning, now up to 52°.

I hope it dries up enough to mow today...that, and removing leaves from the front gutters, are the chores today.

Both chores done...time for a beer!

Now I just have to make sure the truck will start. When I hooked a charger up to the batteries day before yesterday, the Battery Saver said they were down to 50%. Now I'm thinkin' I might have a charging issue, too.:pullinghair:

Might be a loose fan belt, or do you have one of those serpentine belts?

Good evening! Hope you had a great anniversary Ron.
88˚ today and it's hard to comprehend that it will be in the 40s tomorrow and not reach 70˚ for the next 10 days. This is like Michigan weather. My neighbor invited me over to watch him change his sprinkler system to a drip irrigation system. This will be interesting.

LS I think I might be looking for a second opinion, could not hurt anything, and sometimes it helps to have a second set of eyes and experience look at that knee.

Starting yesterday, I started spraying some permethrin on the fire ant mounds. I put down 4 gallons yesterday. After a small shower this morning, I could see fresh dirt on top of some mounds to tell if they were still active (or I had missed them the first go around). I ended up putting another 4 gallons out today.

I took the kids fishing, since it will be the last "warm" day for over a week. It was 88F and humid. A good breeze out of the south kept the fish from biting much, but the middle daughter caught one bass.

My daughter drove the rider and I manned the weedeater so we got the yard mowed while warm. I might need a new speed head for my weedeater, it doesn't want to advance new filament with a bump. I reloaded it before putting it up. I might not need it again this year... :)

Waiting for the storms to hit tonight. Like Don said, hard to figure this cold weather lasting so long down here.
