This also could read "Why I hate call waiting." My phone is for my convenience; I'm not here to serve it.

Wife and I had the same argument the other night. I had to have minor surgery on my back. Nothing serious or debilitating. But it left a wound that needed to be packed every other day and minor cleaning in between. My wife is a nurse, so instead of having to go in every other day to have the old packing removed and repacked at $100 plus a pop, she's been taking care of it. Wound is between my shoulder blades so there isn't any way for me to get to it.

The other night, she pulled the packing, I showered, and just as I was getting out, her phone rang. So she answered it, and stayed on the phone for half an hour. Mean while, I can't put a shirt on, go to bed, sit back in a chair comfortably, couldn't lay down on my side or stomach do to another issue, and feeling nautious from the antibiotic. Shooed me away when I tried to get her to at least put a bandaid on it while she was on the phone.

Needless to say, I was really livid when she got off the phone.

I don't pack my cell phone everyday. I'm always amused at my friends who seem annoyed with me if they call me and I don't pick up. On the same token, I don't answer if I don't feel like investing time to their present needs. Call me selfish, but I've only a short time on this earth. I'm doing it my way.....

You might want to be careful on this one... My wife might just point me in the direction of the doctor's office if I gave her guff.

If they are saved on my contacts usually answer unless I truly cant. Usually is my dad for work (family company) and can play phone tag for over an hour trying to get ahold of each other

The two most important features of that device are caller ID and voicemail. Society has moved to instant response mindset. It is OK to let those emails or text messages wait for 1/2 hour or a day while you finish what you are working on.

Couple years ago after doing errands my wife and I were discussing getting diner. She got distracted in to her phone. I just drove home and made a sandwich. She did get message.

I only answer if one of my family members calls which isn't very often. Whomever is calling can leave a message, I never bring the phone into a store, I have sync in my car and I don't use it hardly at all. All my contacts on my phone are on emergency bipass, if anyone else calls my phone goes to voicemail. They are useful but I don't live on or for a phone call, life is too short to waste so much time on the phone, the young people today are glued to it. If I was young and going to college I would study the medical field of carpal tunnel surgery because the masses will all need it soon..

I tried call waiting back when it was new in this area. At the time I had a couple of coworkers staying with me, every night their wives would call. Without C/W you get a busy signal and know that somebody is home but on the line; with it the phone just rings. (And there was no caller ID then.) I called to have it taken off my service and the woman said "Well you can shut it off if you have an important call." I said "Let me get this straight; you want me to pay for this feature, just so that I can disable it?"

My wife has a habit of calling me while she is talking to someone else. I answer the phone and have to listen to their conversation till she realized I'm on the other end. Drives me nuts. She always acknowledges me just before I hang up.
