That's not a very tough decision. I would rather do most anything than watch commercials on TV, with the occasional break for the show I'm allegedly watching.

A Honeywell programmable dual setback thermostat. :laughing: It's very undependable because I've had to change the batteries in it twice in 23 years! :laughing:

LOL when I was up at my dad's house last week, I HAD to take a pic of a heat only model.... guys in NC don't see em that often.
I installed a Burnham oil boiler (and that t-stat) for my dad back in 94, still running strong.
Thing is, when I was up there in June helping him with his operation, it's been a LONG time since I was sweating my nuts off at night (watching TV) needing to run a fan for cooling.

About 20 something years ago I had the great idea of tying the push mower to the back of my four wheeler and mowing the back yard. It didn’t do turns very well. At one point I noticed the wife and son watching through the living room window. Think they were both shaking their heads.

I won't lie... after being in NC for over 15 years, I was looking for that same subase when we were leaving PA over this past weekend after ready to leave, sitting in the car, I asked my dad if he turned the heat down and he said no, so I ran back inside to make sure the heat was set appropriately.
I compelete forgot what it was like not to "need" AC. Funny enough, really can't remember the last time I handled a Taco 007 to boot.
He has a window shaker, he's just getting too old to put it in and take it out by himself (generally I'd put it in when I'd come up in the spring and take it out on the next trip, but he spent more time down here than I'd go up there). House is laid out easy enough for central air with an unfinished basement, but if the realtor thinks we could recoup the AC cost when we sell, most likely go with a 3 zone mini split for the main floor. Best of both worlds then for heat as well.
My parents live modestly within in their means and had money to burn, which they didn't. Pretty good trait IMO. Although we have no debt other than our house and land, still can't live as frugal as my parents did. That guy (dad) spent 25 years in the military and pretty much saved every penny until he got out.

Dumb question, but what is a window shaker? A window unit? Just never heard that term before.
