whippersnapper!

:D

Last night buying a ice cream for me and my one boy, "Yellow submarine" was playing on the store's speaker system. The young girl ringing us up was actually singing the lyrics to the song.

I asked her if she knew who sang it, and she sheepishly admitted that she didn't (to my surprise, my boy didn't either).

THAT is a whippersnapper.

Hah. I remember when Roosevelt (Franklin Delano) was president. I also remember when A/C could only be found in the movie theaters. We moved into a garage apartment just before our first baby was born. It was unbearably hot in the Summer, so I went deeply into debt to buy a new Fedders window unit...about $250.00 as I recall, installed. It ran day and night, but it was worth it. When I was growing up, our A/C was open windows and a nice Southerly breeze. Later, in the latter part of the 1950's, Dad put in a swamp cooler which worked good when the humidity was low.

I stopped in the Tobacco Barn a year or so ago to get a can of fake snuff and 12 pack of beer. Young guy working behind the counter was listening to and humming “The old rugged cross”.

Florida this year, family vacation, got into an "in depth discussion" with my son that Darius Rucker was the lead singer for Hootie and Blowfish. Flagged down "20 year old looking fellow" going to his car from the complex asking him if he knew who Darius Rucker was. He told me he knew Mr. Rucker and his country songs.

I then found out that apparently Mr. Rucker has had a successful country singing career as well:laughing:

Both my boy and the young gentleman I was talking to NEVER heard of Hootie and Blowfish.

Wagon wheel..

The ONLY reason I know that name is because my boy mentioned it, and I was like "who sings that?"

My boys know country isn't my thing.

That said, they didn't know UB40 covered Neil Diamond's Red Red Wine LOL

For some reason Neil always reminds me of Herb Albert and the Tijuana Brass and Englebert Humperdinck, probably due to the late 60's. When my dad was overseas, I'd listen to his music on his reel to reel recorder.
