This is a great thread! I am proud to say that I have only contributed once so far. Knock on wood. Not that there are other ones I committed that were stupid... they just aren't rising to BOTY level.

I've been fighting a low water pressure problem for about a month now.. ONLY on 1 faucet & ONLY on the cold.. EVERYTHING ELSE in the house works great.. JUST 1 faucet..in the kitchen.. the most used faucet in the house.. it just trickles out.
I decided to tackle it yesterday.. It HAS TO BE a chunk of "impeller" caught in the line.?? I had the well pump replaced about a month ago & found a lot of little plastic pieces in all the faucet screens.. SO.. IT MUST BE THAT??
I bought a new faucet for the kitchen & while I was at the store, decided to "upgrade" the bathroom faucets..
I turned off all incoming water AT the pump & switch..
I get to changing the kitchen.. I also removed the shut-off valve thinking a large piece of impeller was stuck in the COLD line?? NOPE, no chunk.
I changed it out & do the bathroom faucets.. I removed all the "filter screens" just like the instructions tell ya to do, to flush the system..
I go outside, turn on the well pump & stroll back in to check my handy work..
Kitchen 1st.. waters coming out nice, flushing the system.. I check underneath, no leaks.. I turn off the water slowly.. Hot 1st.. cold is just a trickle!!?? WTH?? I mess w/ it a little & say the heck w/ it & check the bathrooms..
Have you guys installed a NEW bathroom faucet lately?? WELL, they don't spray DOWN w/out the screen.!!!
THEY SHOOT STRAIGHT OUT infront of you.. I managed to flood the Master Bathroom.!!! while I was dickin around in the kitchen.!!!
ALL 4 spigots were running full blast..{double vanity} STRAIGHT OUT..
Needless to say, my day was ruined.. but the bathroom faucets "looks" nice.. I spent the next 3 hrs running a carpet cleaner to suck up all the water & running fans..
AND I STILL have the low cold water problem in the kitchen...******..

Don't feel bad.... I closed the stopper in my kitchen sink, put in the dishes, added soap, turned on the water and went out to get the mail. I'll be back in 60 seconds.

20 minutes later, as I'm standing in the yard talking to the neighbor, I hear my wife yelling in the kitchen. Remembering what I did, and calmly told the neighbor "She wants me to do the dishes, I guess."

Water made it to the basement.

OK...I win...hands down !! It's only been 3 weeks since my last confession.

Last week I took down a 60-70' tree from the back corner of the house that had died due to too much back-fill pushed against it when I built the house. No big deal. Decided to have a guy come out and dig out the stump out for me, as I don't have a back hoe. So I called the 811 utility marking number to have the lines marked that were near the stump. Elec guy comes out, marks it, and he's on his way in 5 minutes. Gas guy comes out while I'm working on moving a pile of dirt at the bottom of the hill by the driveway culverts (see pic 1...dirt is gone but flat spot at bottom of hill and to the left of tractor shows where I was).

He stops and I tell him where the gas meter and line are up next to the house and stump. 15 minutes later he hasn't left yet, so I take a peak from down below, and he's at the top of the hill waving me up.

So I drive the tractor up there, park it, shut it down and dis-mount.

Start talking to the guy to tell him where the line is, since he can't find it, and about 2 minutes pass, and all of a sudden he yells " Oh "crap"...your tractor". I turn and look around to see my tractor rolling down the hill towards the trees (see pic2). I start to run after it, but it's really got a head of steam at the point, and is gaining speed...rapidly. I distinctly remember thinking to myself..."this is gonna hurt". (notice the tree right behind the tractor in pic 2)

About 20' before the tractor hits the tree near the bottom of the hill, it starts to turn slowly. Believe it or not, it went right between the two trees, never hit a thing, and came to rest next to my elevated driveway which acted like a backstop for it. If the driveway hadn't been there, it would have rolled another 50-100' I'm sure.

As it was, the distance it traveled (backing up, mind you) was over 300'. My tractor has a habit of shifting out of Medium range, and into Neutral if you "just look at it" while going down hill. So that's why it wasn't held back by the transmission. Oh...did I mention I forgot to set the parking brake?

Told the utility guy I should go by a lottery ticket.

I remember back in 79 or 80 while in high school my friends and I were always working on our cars trying to make them faster. Well I got the bright idea to take the throttle plates off the carb and when I started it went straight to full throttle and thought I would blow the engine before being able to shut it off.
