Car & Driver was much nicer about it.

Looked up last year gigantic-class pickup sales.

Ford 689,000
GM 577,000
Ram 375,000.
Toyota 118,000
Nissan 38,000

Not sure what you mean by that. Anything less than a "half ton" aka 1500/150 is nothing more than a power wheelbarrow IMO. And you don't really even gain anything on fuel mileage either.

But that power wheelbarrow can legally haul more down the road than I can with my Duramax. That extra weight comes off my allowed total. That is, without going into an expensive licensing category, not practical for occasional towing.

One day, I might be in the market for another truck. My 08 is barely broken in, but rusting. There is absolutely NOTHING out there that impresses me, or I would find pleasure in owning. Just more and more, plasticky, flashy, flimsy junk! And no shortage of expensive to repair bells and whistles.

At 38k units, Nissan may as well give up.

But if they can make money, more power to them.

Wow. I've never seen an auto critic be so critical.....kind of felt sorry for Chevy and I'm a Ford driver

Yeah, his name is Lawrence Ulrich and he is a car guy. Surprise, surprise....a car guy doesn't like a truck that uses leaf springs. Does he know which end of a shovel to hold? I give more credit to real truck people and their decision on what they drive, what ever that might be.:cool2:

Last week I used my F150 $2,000 special to haul off trees I was cutting down. The last one, maybe 9" diameter was leaning so I thought I'd pull it up roots and all. I hooked a tow strap to hitch ball, used granny gear 1st, 4x4 low, and pulled easy, maybe 1200rpm. Strap snapped!
Truck runs well, certainly worth $2K. 20181030_123446.jpeg20181030_123651.jpeg20181030_123522.jpeg

That wouldn't pay for a couple of new mirrors on many trucks!

Some of us only need a power wheelbarrow and regardless of the gas mileage, we don't want to pay an extra $10k to drive around in a bigger vehicle that we don't need.

i.e. sometimes it's just about buying and owning what we need. I guess that's a very minority frame of thought these days.

The 2 Ford Rangers I had hauled a bunch of firewood. I knew I had to stop loading when the rear mud flaps were 1" from the ground!

OR cut the mud flaps down a bit. lol

My first new pickup, a 1994 Dakota. First big pickup job. My Dad had cut some apple trees at a distant property and there was a bit of firewood to be taken away.

Plopped a good piece up on the side rail and whalla, a nice good sized dent! That was my first encounter with these POS modern HD pickups! AND, I would bet the rails on my HD Sierra are thinner and junkier even than that!
