The salesman wants me to buy a trailer mover. I need to put in/pull out a fishing boat from a dock. Lightweight boat on trailer.

The trailer mover (front) is expensive. There is a receiver hitch in the back. Is that receiver strong enough to pull a boat trailer and 14ft aluminum boat up a paved ramp? Seems it would be much cheaper to do it this way vs a trailer mover.

the trailer mover lets you do it from the seat, with the jack still down. Take the boat off and park the trailer and move away and never get out of the seat. This very similar to how the trucks do it in the yards, it picks them up off the dolly wheels and drops them in a spot and never crank the the dolly wheels up...... jim

OK. Seems expensive for a little convenience. If I had a yard full of trailers it might be appealing.

I have too much stuff lying around and too much Steiner stuff. The last thing I would want is a little used attachment cluttering up the place, especially one that is not critical to the task at hand. I pull, a harrow, a grass collection sweeper and roller behind my Steiner, without issue and a BIG advantage is, I can leave what's on the front there.

I built a 2" receiver for the back of my Steiner.

I use my forks all the time on my small wheel loader to move around trailers. If you have rolling terrain, it is extremely easy to bend the trailer tongue jack if you leave it down.

If this is a chore you do often, then it could be a good idea; such as working at a marina. If it is an attachment that is going to rust away in the weeds .... It is WAY easier with the trailer in front. I back, from the back of the tractor, my trailers on occasion with the Ventrac, about 2,700 pounds max on up to 20 degrees and that is pushing the traction limits given the weight of the Ventrac. Sure makes my neck ache if I have to do much of it. But, do not do enough to make or buy the front attachment.

You are right but what I made is a trailer ball attachment and a ripper and a little boom for lifting things. All made with scrap angle and tubing all fit the same mount, and it is light and pick it up and put it on..... jim

I had a roller push over my Steiner on a hillside. I was not using duals which probably would have prevented the roll over. The Steiner/Ventrac are a good sturdy machine, but not that heavy, and will easily pull something bigger than the tractor.

I would guess you lost it going down hill right? and started to slide in the grass?.... jim

EXACTLY. I have pulled this roller, which maybe is a little large (filled with stone) on a number of occasions. I was rolling seed, not paying enough attention to the dynamics, and maybe in a little too much of a hurry. Basically, I attempted a turn without having come to a dead crawl.
