If you go to Tractor Supply company they have hydraulic fluid that actually says that it is good for Mahindra tractors just an FYI. I forget the name of it but will follow up and get it next time I'm in my garage.

Thanks, I think you are referring to the Traveler hyd fluid. Many are pleased with it and it does list Mahindra and is far less expensive. But if I smoke the hydraulic pump don’t think Travelers is going to honor Mahindras warranty if Mahindra says the pump failed because you didn’t use our recommended fluid. Not saying they would but they could. So until the 5 year warranty expires I plan to follow their recommendations. Will probably follow them after the warranty.

Just be careful. It doesn't list WHICH Mahindra tractors it is good for. Older gear tractors likely have much different requirements than new HST tractors. If you don't use a "Tractor hydraulic AND TRANSMISSION" oil then it probably won't have the right additives and it will damage the brake linings on the wet brake system.

The most important part is, it has to be suitable for wet brakes and clutches. No hydraulic fluid will smoke a pump if you should happen to put the wrong one in.
If you operate in colder climates, you might look into low viscosity oils. There are differences in the pouring point. Domestic fluids are around -40F while low viscosity fluids could pour as low as -75F.

It would be illegal for Mahindra not to honor a warranty because you didn't use their "recommended" fluid, as long as you used a fluid of the same specifications. They would run up against the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act and have to prove the fluid caused the problem before they could void your warranty.

I know that. Mahindra does not list or provide a spec for THF. They list a few other acceptable brands. Not the case with other fluids and lubricants where they do provide a spec.

If you use a fluid with the same spec as those recommended your safe.

To the OP:
Maybe I missed it but did you list what your dealer sells?
I'e done business with our local new Holland/Mahindra dealer and another Kubota/JD dealer. Man I had no idea how many name brand are out there. Both these dealers carry oil brand I have never heard of.

Tell you what I did because again my Kioti dealer sell a brand I never heard of, yipper I'm wet behind the ears.
I went to my NAPA dealer and ordered 10 gallons of their brand 'Coastal' full synthetic fro about 94 bucks a bucket.
The machine before/after performance was remarkable.
So whatever brand your dealer sells look it up and study the specs then buy what you want that meets/exceeds those specs.
From what I can tell is that many are backing away from the 303 fluid for the modern machines.
