Rained all day and stayed in the 30s, but no snow or ice.
Decided since such a nasty weather day, to try the Social Security office to get their misspelling of my name corrected on their records.
- 45 minute drive
- 26 minute wait at SS office, then told must have a birth certificate in addition to driver's license...opposite of what I was told on phone and read on their website.
- Learned that the DMV can provide birth certificates...15 minute drive and walk...36 minute wait...$14 fee.
- Back to SS office...only a 9 minute wait...I now believe that all is corrected once they run their batch processing tonight.
- Got jerked around by the system, trying to correct their typo, but everyone I dealt with was super polite and nice.
At least their was a fancy biscuit restaurant across the street.
Then went to the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts...haven't been since the kids were young...very stimulating, especially the 2,000 to 5,000 year old pieces from Greece, Italy, Egypt and Turkey. In the American sections, they had a fully restored bedroom from one of Rockefeller's houses in New York City, itself a large room with museum equivalent art, ceiling and wall painting, jeweled lamps, and furniture.
