The pipe wrench I freed it with was probably close to 2' long. It was not easy to get a grip on it but even when I had one and despite the leverage it still took substantial strength.
So amazing how frequently what seems like simple projects quickly take unexpected turns and get more complicated quickly. Or is it just me? LOL

Just wait until you change the hydraulic filter. LOL
The oil filter will seem like child’s play.

Ouch, then may have to sell the tractor before its time.... LOL

You have time. Just make sure your wrench fits and pick up a long pipe somewhere along the way

CCW is off looking at the end of it. I find that oil filters on all types of OEM equipment I have bought are torqued at the factory.....aka you gotta rip 'em off!!!!! Silverado, lawn mowers, 4 stroke gas weed eaters, tractors, leaf vacs, standby generator..........

I bought a Generac home standby generator and the only problem in 4 years was.....you guessed it, a leaking oil filter at the seam where it's crimped together. So I go to change it out and guess what....torqued on tight.....funny on the side of a lot of filters I've purchased it clearly states, contact the gasket to the mating surface and then add セ turn!!!!!

After I loosened it with the pipe wrench I did not have time to finish until late yesterday afternoon. Was surprised that what I thought was loosened was still ridiculously tight. Had to go back with pipe wrench again. What finally came off was the filter along with fitting it screws on to. Had to wrestle that off filter.
My true calling is definitely not a mechanic.

Don't beat yourself up. The fitting would have come off in the dealers shop also. You just would have never heard about it. It's crazy that the shop manuals give us all these specific torque values and warn against over tightening and then they are way over tightened from the factory.

It makes a mess, but no matter how many filter wrenches you have, none will work, so many times I have just stuck a punch through the filter. Hey, you get oil running into your arm pit, no matter what you do, it seems.

You need this tool in your tool box:
The Original™ Locking Chain Clamp - Tools - IRWIN TOOLS
Your local NAPA dealer will have it or can have it the next day.
The filter will come off with almost no effort so it seems, because this sucker grips and it will 'pop' off.
Buy the exact model, do NOT get the cheap 10 dollah unit at a big box or auto store.
They are cheap and break easily, I know from 1st hand experience.

The OEM filters are tight and the fact they are coated with factory paint adds to the effort required for removal.
Oh, and do not believe the crap about hand tight filters.
Use your wrench and 'snug' it down. Vibration will loosen the filters and you'll find a puddle of fluid under your tractor.
Last thing you want to see is a sudden loss of fluid and find the filter hanging by a thread.

Don't know about other brands but Kioti seems to dunk (not really but) their machine in a paint bath, sheesh everything is coated and sealed with the dark gray paint.

This is an ubiquitous occurrence. The thought that comes to mind is that they do this for 'shipping' purposes as they can't account for the distances/transport circumstances (knocking around, vibration, etc...) that could loosen these filters from factory to final delivery destination.
