A quick search on amazon for Acetylene bottle adapter showed several $25 and less. I don’t know enough about old bottles to know what those male threads are. Measure the size and tpi of the male threads and I’m sure their is something for you.

Any welding shop that has been in business for a few years should be able to answer your question. might even find a used adapter ☺

^^^what RNeumann said.

Google CGA pressure fittings for fuels-acetylene.

Technically you won’t be looking for an adapter per se as you will be using an appropriate coupler nut or stem with inlet pipe threaded right into your regulator.

I have several. Most LWS staff aren’t totally knowledgeable in these items as acetylene tank bottle connections vary in different parts of the country. Not nearly uniform as one might think.

Left AND right hand thread -male or female tank stems , different sizes and thread pitches.

I guarantee you’ll know more than the average welding gas vendor when you’re done.

I found eBay to be the best to buy. Have fun

never seen one like that in my area. Here, they would never refill that one

The adapter I have is marked CGA 520. The fitting should come either way. Replace what's on your gauge or adapt your male fitting to that male fitting. Remember left hand Flammable gas threads have a hash mark on the nut.

"Feels full" is kind of a misleading statement since those bottles are always full. The are full of a substance that looks similar to concrete and is very porus. The acetone and acetylene gas are suspended in that substance in the bottle. Therefore weighing the bottle without knowing what it weighs empty is kind of a wasted effort.
I also have not seen a bottle with that fitting, but all of my bottles are sourced from a single shop, which uses the same standard. I have a lot of spare parts for my type, but not yours.

Until a year ago I thought ALL flammable gas threads were left hand. I suppose I’ve led a sheltered life on the farm. :)

First off what is size of acetylene tank.... Look on valve body to see if it has a "CGA XXX" number, that is first clue on what size bottle and what adapter you need....

THE two smallest tanks sized take diffident adapters.... Your tank looks bigger...

General Welding Supply Corp.-Industrial Cylinder Sizes

Look up CGA fitting/adapters on Western Enterprize site...

Cylinder Adaptors - Western Enterprises

Your regulator appears to be a CGA 510 fitting and if you are using a "B" (CGA 520) acetylene tank the proper adapter is Western Enterprises 317

IF a "MC" series tank... CGA 200.... You need a Western Enterprise 324...

Other than right hand threaded B and MC fittngs there was also one called POL. I think that's what you may have here. In any event that is an old old cylinder. I'd check it close for rust weakness or take it in for a pro inspection. The Railroad had their own acetylene fittings as well. Simply called Rail Road. Even had their own rail road size fittings on the hoses.
