I read this as a new engine and in a later post he says he's been running it ragged.

Yes I think he got a new engine, and has been using the machine without issue for the past few weeks. Great to hear!

That is my impression as well. New engine and off and running.

Kudos to Kubota for stepping up

Yes, good questions. Arcli9ht came back saying he never resolved this thread ... and then still did not tell us what the final solution was.

Final solution was kubota provided a new engine, at no cost of course. Must have been overnight shipping after they inspected the original engine. It showed up before the tracking info got in. The dealer installed it and it's been working hard since.

Outstanding. Happy ending (and really the way it should be.) Thanks for the follow-up.

And this is why i bought a kubota to start with... the company has never let me down UNTIL just very recently.
They have a recall for the radiator reservoir cap on the BX series. (i`m not sure what other series are effected)
The new one was worse than the original one that came on the tractor brand new.
I did call kubota about it, they got right on it and looking into it now.

Maybe they`ll re-send me a new one that isnt plugged up!

That recall is a petty little thing to start with. This is not the radiator cap, it is the radiator RESERVOIR cap which doesn't do anything but let coolant overflow into the tank. No idea why you wouldn't just clean out the old one if it was a problem.

Yeah i think i was pretty clear to state that it was the "RESERVOIR" cap and NOT the radiator cap that i was speaking about.
You should go back and re-read thread #105. I went back and high lighted it in BIG red bold letters so that you can see it this time.
No, your absolutely wrong, its NOT a little thing... it`s a very BIG problem, it can cause the engine to overheat if the nipple is plugged, which is clearly stated in the recall notice.
Mine was a problem, and YES, i already fixed mine. Now i`m waiting for kubota to send me a GOOD cap, and that one will end up in my toolbox should i ever need one or somebody else needs one.

Might take the chip off your shoulder? I did not say you weren't clear. I pointed out that it was not all that clearly stated (by Kubota), which also is no big deal. And it does not do anything but let coolant overflow go to the tank. So why would you not just clean out the old one if it was ever a problem?

And no, "you are absolutely wrong" to use your unnecessary wording... -- it cannot cause the engine to overheat without being preceded by flooding coolant all over the place in case of a blocked cap... which most of us would recognize, I think. Even then overheating won't occur unless it is low on coolant after the overflow.

Exactly as I said, no big deal.

Sure thing pal, no big deal. We`ll just agree to disagree and just leave it at that.

I should know better than to join this conversation... but ... the wording of the notice:

"Hot coolant can spray out onto consumers from the _overheated and pressurized coolant reservoir tank_, posing a burn hazard."

The concern is possible overheating (maybe...) and pressurization of the overflow bottle, not the radiator/engine. The issue - if any - is that someone inspecting/removing the plugged cap on a pressurized and overfilled bottle could get a face full of hot coolant.

Thanks for posting the link and warning. Thankfully my BX24 is not on the list and my GR was built prior to the problem - and I just checked the caps for correct venting.

Z.
