Ether

Also works good on outdoor GFIC outlets that are prone to dampness trips...

Yes it does. Forgot about doing that once.

Seems counterintuitive to spray liquid on something because it fails to work from liquid exposure.

I've also had a GFI breaker in a temporary saw pole that would constantly trip when it was really damp or raining...WD 40 was the ticket...

As far as being expensive...it's as cheap as any of the typical spray lubes and is well known...ask someone to grab the wd 40 off the bench they don't have to look twice...

It comes in several compact size containers that are great for mobile tool/tackle boxes etc...

On many things like door hinges it won't evaporate or wear away any faster than any other light lube...

Before WD 40 became so popular most guys had little tins of "3-in-One" Oil sitting on the bench and maybe the same type of tin of Liquid Wrench...The advent of the spray lube made Wd 40 a household name...

We'll agree to disagree.

Let's see, engine is wet and won't crank. Go to the shop, fill air bubble, load up bubble/hose/nozzle, haul to wet engine, blow until bubble is empty, engine still won't crank, back to shop for round two.

Or, pull a can of WD-40 out of the toolbox, squirt everything, crank up and be under way.

In these times it could cost $100 a gallon and be cheap. :)

I never have that kind of trouble. But, then I keep everything in good working order.

If you engine is wet, and won't crank, you have a lot of bigger problems than getting air to dry it.

Take it that you don't like WD-40, but others apparently do.. I use it for a number of things, but have noticed the product has changed and figured it was just another unfortunate result of our out-of-control EPA

It's the equivalent of using duct take to repair everything.

Some are perfectly happy to do that kind of work.

I'm not one of them.

Duct tape is for things that move that aren't supposed to. WD40 is for things that are supposed to move and don't. That's why you need both!

Before the WD40 can is shoved in with the ether, here's some real life experience. Before cell phones I wore a cheap Timex wrist watch. Sooner or later on a 100F day I'd submerge the watch in water while going for the last beer in cooler or pulling a fish into boat. The face would fog over then watch would soon stop. I would pop the back off and leave it on table overnight. Next morning I'd direct a quick burst of WD40 into watch,,,,,,,,,,and it would instantly begin running. Did it no less than a dozen times on my own and other's watches and it worked 95% of the time. I realize more expensive watches are water proof but if being poor mean's I was stupid or otherwise unfit,I'm guilty as charged.

Wd40 isn’t as good ( by a long shot) as Kroil or PB blaster but it does work for some things. One thing I’ve used if for is spraying cast iron tops to prevent rust. I don’t see the need to hate on it. Btw I’ve never ethered a diesel either.

Well, this has been posted on TBN numerous times, but I'll post it again. WD40 beat Kroil and PB Blaster.

Other things beat WD40. Like heat and Liquid Wrench.
