2000 Power Trac 422
Has anyone here felt they actually influenced someone in a major way so that they soon bought a Power Trac? PT Has very little marketing, so I suspect that most of their sales come from owner actions.
Things are kinda slow here, so I thought I would bring this up.

Yeah, I'm guilty of that. But I always add the disclaimer that you need to sit on one, operate it, and compare it to as many other machines as possible before purchasing one or the other. I always try and make it clear to people the pros and cons of my machine.

For sure, you are the main reason i started looking at Power Trac, and i have to say, my initial response was something like, i don't want to run a golf cart around.

This forum and a member that allowed me to test drive their machine is how I got hooked.

I figure that Moss has sold more than anyone.

Yep. We have heard the golf cart comment many times over the years.

I think a lot of folks don't realize how many different sizes and capabilities of machines PT makes.

There website and information makes me feel as though they don't care to sell more. They remind me of the local feed store who will be out of business when the 'old timers' die off.

People have been saying this since I first got mine in 2001. I think they enjoy their business model. The minining equipment side of their business might be taking a hit, but I have no way of knowing that, it's just speculation.

Honestly, I'm from that part of Virginia and let's just say that power-trac is not the only ones just now ringing in the the new millennium... Good folks doing their thing their way... Cuz it's still working for them.

There's a nearby machinery dealership that gave me that feeling when I tried to buy a set of pallet forks. Last time I was there I didn't see the owners, I hope they've sold out.

I was working at a customers home in the winter and saw these strange tracs in the snow. Asked him about it and he showed me the 422 that caused them. Went home and started doing research and after finding this site I was sold!

I wonder how many PT's they sell in a months time down in Tazewell? Would there be a fair amount of PT owners that are not members on this site? I know when I bought this 1430 back in 2016, the truck driver that dropped mine off said he was busy delivering quite a few of these to customers.

I'm sure that most PT owners are not members of TBN. We're just a small sampling.

I just seen your from South Bend. I have a old 1974 South Bend lathe; they are nice machines.

Do you see any PT's out there in Indian?

Yes. In fact, when I was looking at them, back in 2001, a local landscaper had two 425's and one of their crew let me have a real good lookover of the machine and showed me how it worked. I'd only seen them on-line before that. I was sold! They also had a 1430. There's a 425 west of me 5 miles. And a 2425 9 miles SW of me. So there are a few. However, the only other owner on TBN I met was PJ. He lived in Montana, had a 425, and we struck up a pretty good on-line friendship, he and his wife and their moms were passing through the area, and they stopped by. Our wives hit it off nicely, and a couple years later we visited them in Montana for a couple days. PJ passed away a couple years ago. I still talk to his wife a couple times a year. I've also met a few other TBN members in person over the years.

As for your South Bend lathe.....

There was a time in America when pretty much every single person in the country used something on a daily basis that was made in South Bend, Indiana! Not so much anymore.

I remember reading some of PJ's posts on here. I never actually met anyone yet who has a PT, but they are around central PA. I asked Terry for some Power Trac brochures that I could spread around this area, and he gave me a stack of them that I put all around on poster boards. It makes me wonder if they interested anyone into buying one? There's a few Duetz service centers around here where I stop in and get filters, and the workers there were interested hearing about these machines. Almost everyone I found that are around or work on Duetz motors are fans of there performance and durability. As for the PT 425's, I was so glad to hear that they started using Kohler engines again:thumbsup:

MossRoad is the key reason why I purchased my Power-Trac. His now-ancient website was a wealth of information. I've built all sorts of weird add-ons, changed to LED lighting, had my backhoe rewelded, and even had the head gaskets on the Kohler replaced. The PT425 just keeps soldiering along.

Thanks, David!
