So I am trying to get an old B&S engine running. Got it to run just a bit pouring gas down the carb. Took the carb off and soaked it in thinner, got everything cleaned up. The problem is that the threaded piece ( Has a 7/16 hex with external threads, screws into carb and internal threads, jet screws into) is corroded and broke. Now the engine shroud may have been changed as the Model 80312, Type 1524-01 shows a different carb on the parts list. My carb comes straight out from the horizontal shaft engine, has the tank mounted under with 1 pickup tube. There is no other numbers on the carb. The B&S parts website is down and I need help to find the part/prt# to get this running

What is the engine off of..? I'm just wondering if you've tried to find a parts manual for the particular machine it came from. I have found what engine is on several different older lawn machines that way. It may not give the exact engine model number, but will have that particular company's part number listed. Copy and paste that part number to a Google search, and see what pops up.

That type of bolt on carb. was used on a lot of 2 to 5 hp engines. Maybe even do a search for that particular machine. If it's a popular collectible item, you may even find a forum on it. You'd be amazed what people collect...

This advice may not be what you are looking for but I've often found that going online and ordering a new carb is very cost effective vs taking the time to fix the old one.

The engine is on a Marlow Mud Hog, diaphragm pump. can't find any manuals for it. I am not sure which carb will work as the model numbers may be wrong and I haven't found the exact carb. I did order a high speed jet, p/n 299060, but it was too big. That's why I need the correct p/n to order.

Somewhere on the engine fan shroud are model numbers, engine vin number etc. Those numbers will get you to the right parts catalog to look up part numbers.

Have to agree with this. Earlier this week I got online to order a carb gasket for a 10 yr old generator. I could get the gasket for $7 or a complete new carb for $14 w/ free shipping.....it was a no-brainer, I ordered the new carb.

I have the model/type but when I look them up it shows a different carb. Shroud may have been swapped out.

As for ordering a new carb, not sure of the correct replacement. Model/type may be wrong numbers on shroud

Your engine looks closer to a 080202-1672 either 01 or 02 type. Carb looks close, but they use the 299060 jet that you are saying is too big.
