Steering chatter/ studder ck2610

The chatter occurs when the tractor is half warmed up. Does it also happen when the fluid is fully warmed up? When this chatter happens.. if you turn the steering to full lock a couple of times, does the chatter go away? My thinking is that there is cold fluid in the steering system and the difference in viscosity between the warm fluid and colder fluid is causing this chatter. Just a theory.
As far as the optional loader for the 2610 goes. Both loaders require about 2560 psi relief pressure. Both tractors provide that pressure at approx. the same flow rate. I cannot see how you would not be able to use the loader to it’s full potential if properly ballast at the 3pt. The hydraulic system will not stall the tractor. There is a relief valve. The Hst could definitely stall the tractor.

I did my 50hr service yesterday. We'll see if that helps with the steering chatter. I changed hydraulic fluid as well.

Yes please keep us updated. What fluid did you use?

Check if the hydraulicfilter is tighty screwed in ?
A loose filter can do that !

Ended up using TSC Traveller Premium UTF. I only drove it from my garage to the shelter but it seemed quieter to me. I also noted that I didn't seem to get the 5.8 gallons of fluid that it calls for. I didn't measure it but it didn't fill the 5 gallon bucket. I had the loader arms and 3pt lowered to make sure the cylinders were empty as could be. I guess the oil cooler and hydro had the rest. I did check the level before draining and it was at the upper limit. I put the entire 5 gallons in and it's slightly above the upper limit now.

Mine definitely wasn't loose. A strap wrench worked well on both the hydraulic and engine filters. The HST filter was a different story. I ended up using a C clamp that was slightly smaller than the filter. Tightened it until it was gripping 3 sides of the filter. Used a pipe wrench on that and it finally broke loose. Don't think I've ever seen a filter that tight.

The steering chatter is just a function of the design of the steering system has little to do with what Hyd fluid your using. The way the front end is designed is that the 2 steering cylinders (single acting) push against each other through both axles and the drag link so the system builds up enough force like a spring and it releases quickly. It will normally do it more with a lower hr tractor because everything is tighter (Seals cylinders, joints knuckle) and cause more spring action once the system wears more everything loosens and less spring action. Greasing the joints sometimes helps but mostly its just the nature of the beast.

I have a 2610 with about 140 hrs on it. I can't say I've ever noticed any steering chatter. I always keep my RPM's around 2000. Maybe see if your running your rpm's too low??? Did the 50 hr service and changed both filters. used chevron THF 1000. Wish I could help more? Have you called you dealer?
