Dangerous times even in small town

there are a lot of unbalanced people out there... many would like nothing more than to get picked up and taken in... it is not a deterrent... they welcome it.

I visited a business in Reno, NV recently. A nice building in a bad area-- obviously it used to be a nice area but time and circumstances overtook it.

All the streetside windows were smashed out. I asked the manager what happened, and he said: "oh thats just Betty-- she's at it again." Apparently a local mentally ill woman likes to break glass, and does it about on a weekly basis. Then the business owner fixes it, and it then repeats.

Ironically it was a window and glass company that I visited.

It is against the law for someone to take my vehicle without my permission, I shouldn't have to take the keys out..... EVER.

It wasn't agasint the law for me to be in Camden New Jersey at 0100 by taking a wrong bridge out of Philly, but common sense told me that a white boy driving a VW in Camden at night should turn around ASAP and get the heck out of dodge. I came to this conclusion by only looking at the area I was driving in.

The key word is common sense.

In my driveway around my house, doors to car would be unlocked. Given my driveway and house being off the road, I even leave my keys in the ignition running at times. However, common sense tells me NEVER to leave the keys in the ingition without myself in the car, law or no law outside my home. That same common sense would tell me if I lived in a more surbuban area, not to leave the keys in my car even in front of my house.

I need to stay out of this thread.

I think cops should be held accountable when they shoot innocent people.
A gun IS NOT a reason to shoot someone.
Police training that EVERYONE they see & those they don't see are a lethal threat is WRONG.

That last one is a peeve of mine; I spend more time looking for keys than I"ll ever admit. Often they are under the seat or someplace else where they fell after I took them out and dropped them just to keep that stupid buzzer from going off.

Right now in SF there smash and grab thieves have been getting away with it saying the car was open or window broken when they happened upon it...

So just someone being inside your car or having your items isn't enough.

The legal system is also saying the courts are clogged with petty or misdemeanor crimes and they should give defendants a pass just to clear the calendar.

Seems like a Green Light to me.

Reminds me of those Charles Bronson Deathwish movies....

I used to carry an extra car key and an extra house key in my bill fold. Having locked my keys in my truck at the store in 20 degree weather, spitting snow and windy, I learned my lesson. As luck would have it, I was next door to a cleaners and I found an old coat hangar that allowed me to get the door unlocked. My current truck has a keyless entry, and an access code I can remember, so I don't have to carry a car key anymore. I still carry my house key, though, and It comes in handy from time to time.

Paranoia is an instinct or thought process believed to be heavily influenced by anxiety or fear, often to the point of delusion and irrationality. ... For example, an incident most people would view as an accident or coincidence, a paranoid person might believe was intentional. Paranoia is a central symptom of psychosis.

We and our relatives have locked ourselves out of our houses several times for various reasons (mostly brain malfunctions).

Fortunately, I apparently have very good burglar skills and can get into a lot of places without keys and leaving behind no visible damage (evidence).

However, I'm sure there's a ton of DNA from where I squeezed through the openings. It's a lot harder as the years go by, as I'm a lot larger than I used to be.

Was that directed at me?
