Dangerous times even in small town

Pretty much any groundhog will go down within 50 yards with a 22LR with a head shot. Myself, the only two I've shot were killed with a .22LR within 50 yards. Believe it or not, I'm pretty certain the same thing for cats as well, although I've never shot a cat, so I can't speak from first hand experience.

There is supposedly a verified story of a lone woman in Alaska killing a charging grizzly with a single shot .22 rifle. Yes, she was very lucky and hit the charging bear in the eye! Of course we will never hear of any unsuccessful attempts :(

If you are going to carry all the time it must be comfortable. I tell everyone at my CCW classes that I would rather have a 22 in my pocket than a 45 in the glove box. When you need it, you need it now. 22's became bad about misfiring, so I switched to a 380. I have two wallets like some others mentioned. But one has my credit cards and money, the other has the 380. Reaching for my wallet with the left or right hand makes a big difference in what is about to happen.

What is not nice to say when people are paying YOU money to certify them to legally carry a pistol in their state is that the slimmer you body shape, the easier it is to carry concealed.

The old stories I heard claimed that the .222 Remington was the favorite Eskimo cartridge; that they used it for everything from polar bear to seals...and reloaded their own ammo extensively. No one ever said they were wimps. I saw a movie clip where and Eskimo attacked a polar bear with what looked like a lance; I suppose it could have been a harpoon, but gutsy none the less. He rammed the spear into the neck of the bear, just above the chest, and kept on stabbing it into the bear's neck. The clip ended about that time; I suspect the camera man headed for tall timber, or else the ending was too gruesome to show.

I have since tried to find that clip on the internet, but so far nothing.

Before the .222, I read that many Eskimos used the .22 Hornet for most game hunting.

There is a huge difference IMO between a rimfire .22LR and a .22 Hornet or .222

As far as the written account of Bella Twin, I did find this comment about her interesting...

"She was shrewd enough to parlay the world record grizzly into cash. She sold the skin and skull separately, and sold the old, beat up rifle as well."
