But the point of that post was using deadly force to protect property.

In context of the previous posts, though, it was taken as you implyiing that 'setting a trap' was included in the cite. Jusst a misunderstanding.

When I moved in I took down the yard light, put a sensor light.

Neigbor asked why I took down the yard light...

Sensor light COULD be a dumb motion sensor..or it COULD be me turning on the light cause I heard you...

YEs, if one just has to have a yard light, the sensor type is the way to go. A steady light will not scare off a burglar but one suddently coming on will!

Don't get caught with hollow points either. The fine is a horrendous amount per round.

As long as the gun and bullets are transported in your vehicle are in locked seperate containers away from main access from the driver, and what you are carrying is legal in the state you reside in to the state you're traveling to, and you do not stop in said **** state (AKA NJ, NY, Mass, Maryland, Kalifornia...), they (**** state) can try to nail you, but they won't succeed. It may however cost you some money and time though.

I noticed a few states where you can travel your gun through the state as long as you only make minimal stops, like fuel, bathroom, etc... or emergency stop like flat tire or hospital. However, you cannot stay overnight in that state with your gun, even if it's stored as described. That could be particularly hard in large states like CA, or even NY if you're traveling from end-to-end. Plan your trip so you don't have to stay overnight in those states.

Remember that phrase "common sense"? Plan accordingly when you go through **** states and do not stop at all if you don't have to. It is also very wise to record ANY interaction you have with out of state LEO's for ANY reason.

I also went that route about ten years ago, got tired of the huge key rings hanging from my belt and sorting through the keys to find the right one for the lock I was wanting to open. Same for the house, all four doors use the same key. My ring has three keys on it, one for the truck, one for the house and one for all the locks at the farm.

I gotta do that for my key ring. i have probably 10 master lock keys on my ring. It's a pain having to try each one till I get the right key

Just curious if there is a single instance when a person who has a legal license to carry a concealed weapon used it to commit crimes against others? Anti gun people seem to say this rather frequently, but from what I know, they seem to be the most law abiding people in the country.

I've seen a study done in two states and concealed licensees have 1/3rd the conviction rate per capita as do police officers, both for felonies and for misdemeanors. Considering that cops tend to be protected, that puts our conviction rate pretty low.

Of course, to get a concealed carry permit, one has to have a good record, it's fairly likely that we will continue that way.

Of course there will always be exceptions and an occasional rotten apple in the barrel.

I would be put away for life then. I have personal protection rounds in my 40 and my wife's 9mm. Purchased from the local sporting goods store The reason being is they won't punch straight through an object. They hit and shatter instead.

They have a lot of stopping power on what they hit, but less chance of collateral damage.

A target round in 40 calibre can do more collateral damage since they can punch through multiple walls or even a door on an automobile.

Just FYI, a pellet gun will practically penetrate a modern automobile door! Of course it depends if you hit any steel beam in there, but probably the plastic would stop a bullet more than the outer steel skin.

We used to shoot at all kinds of 60s, 70s, and 80s vehicles. Even then, none were a match for even a little old .22.

Terminal ballistics of true hollow points are not favorable. You should switch to bonded bullets. They have the best of both. Good expansion and great energy dump on impact.
