Nice boat! Flying Scot?

Garandman, what's under the cover?
Melges 24.
It is the six cylinder Outback with over 250hp. It is rated for 3,500 to 4,400 lbs (2,000 kg). They came standard with a transmission cooler and oil cooler. Also has a timing chain instead of belts. We also tow a RibCraft 6.5 which is about 3,200 without fuel.Very cool and fast boat! Former collegiate racer here, I like to keep tabs on the sailing world when I’m not working on my rural property in Virginia. Used to race 420’s and 470’s.
Is that trailer a little heavy for that Subaru or is the Melges 24 so light it’s within spec?
Good motor oil changed by the book makes 300K+ possible for many modern cars and trucks.
Depends where you live. Here in the northeast, as has been mentioned many times, road salt/brine are the enemy. As the old song went, rust never sleeps. Vehicles are getting better in that regard, but 'most everything built in the last 15 years ago has plastic cladding that covers the rust-prone areas (fenders, rocker panels, etc.) so by the time you notice the rust, it's too late.
In my 50+ years of driving, I've only had one vehicle where engine problems were the reason it got junked.
