My 04 Corolla commuter car has 279k and I hope to keep it well past 300, had about 4 or 5 cars well into the 200's but never broke 300.

Guy I worked with had a old late 80's early 90's F150 with the 4.9L and Auto, had over 700k, it was on its second or third engine but original trans.

My 170k mile 1999 F-150 just went in for ball joints, upper control arms idler arm and a few other odds and ends. 1300.00 worth of repairs.
I bought the truck about 18 months ago for 2k.. knowing that it needed tlc ..the meter is now in the 13k that I'm into it for.. I'm pot committed at this point.

Melges 24.

Very cool and fast boat! Former collegiate racer here, I like to keep tabs on the sailing world when I’m not working on my rural property in Virginia. Used to race 420’s and 470’s.

Is that trailer a little heavy for that Subaru or is the Melges 24 so light it’s within spec?

It is the six cylinder Outback with over 250hp. It is rated for 3,500 to 4,400 lbs (2,000 kg). They came standard with a transmission cooler and oil cooler. Also has a timing chain instead of belts. We also tow a RibCraft 6.5 which is about 3,200 without fuel.

The Melges on the trailer was something under 3,000 lbs. That carbon fiber mast, fully rigged, was only 56 lbs. We sold it in 2017 but a fun boat.

Saw on 4.3L in a 1998 Chevy S10 PU that was still running at 524K miles with no internal engine repairs. I drove a 2002 4.3 Blazer from 102K to 218K and I think the guy that got it gave it to his granddaughter a few years ago and I still see it around town. The 2010 5.4L in the F-150 we picked up this summer now has 211K and is very quiet and powerful. I am driving it today to drive the moisture out of the cab so the door handles do not freeze as bad. I do not get it out on salt so I have been driving the 2010 Subaru mainly for the last 2 months since I have not towed the equipment trailer for any reason in a while plus I would like for it to be dependable for another 20 years for old tractor events.

Good motor oil changed by the book makes 300K+ possible for many modern cars and trucks.

Depends where you live. Here in the northeast, as has been mentioned many times, road salt/brine are the enemy. As the old song went, rust never sleeps. Vehicles are getting better in that regard, but 'most everything built in the last 15 years ago has plastic cladding that covers the rust-prone areas (fenders, rocker panels, etc.) so by the time you notice the rust, it's too late.

In my 50+ years of driving, I've only had one vehicle where engine problems were the reason it got junked.

If they would put galvanized metal under the plastic do you think it would help?
I don't have any experience with salted roads and have never had a rusted vehicle.
