So when you are ready to switch back to the factory bolt just run a tap thru the weld nut. How buggered can it get???? It's not like the ROPS is beating back and forth. The main bolt holds it. it's just a bolt/pin dancing around. And if it is a close fit it won't even dance. Just my 2 cents.

I recommend getting a grade 8 pin slightly smaller than the bolt hole, and wrapping a few turns of black tape around it. This way it won't rattle and it won't damage the threads.

If the black tape gets worn out, simply re-wrap it.

I've done this on other machines before. Works great.

Exactly. The nut is not centering the ROPS bolts...the unthreaded portion of the bolt and the holes in the ROPS bars do that. The nut really on provides clamping force to keep the bolt from rattling. The bolt fits pretty tightly through the holes, so I doubt there will be much movement at all.

I raise and lower the ROPS on an M7040SU everytime it goes into my garage. No issue with pulling the pin, and threading them in and out everytime.

It's not that hard?
