I Ordered DeWalt Tools From China

Ordering from China couldn't be any worse than buying from Amazon. These are our Christmas gifts from Amazon: Fancy convection oven that came used full of grease and scratches and missing parts. A pair of Bose $349 Bluetooth, noise cancelling headphones that won't work with the PC or the Smart TV. New Smart Phone that wouldn't even power up. Security camera that wouldn't function at night but fine during the day. New Sony dslr camera that was used and broken. Sad!

That’s really bad luck there. I’ve never had anything except amazing customer service from amazon. They didn’t get to be the largest retailer in the world by selling broke crap. Half the time when I go in a brick and mortar business I get frustrated with lousy service and wish I had of just got it from Amazon.

Never had a problem with Amazon's Customer Service. They have always "fixed" any problems promptly. The problem is letting broken and nasty used items get to the consumer. These type problems are happening to often. Most of the items we buy are sold and shipped by Amazon not third parties.

Almost all power tools are made in China now. From the viewpoint of the buyer, that's not necessarily a bad thing. Some of the Chinese tools are as good or better than anything made in the US. An example are the Earthquake impact wrenches you get from Harbor Freight. They are phenomenal. For a steadily increasing number of consumer goods, China is the place to go for quality and low prices.

Agree with the Amazon service. I think I ordered 87 items this year over a wide range of items. Sent just two things back and both times I just printed a UPS label and dot a refund later.

I order a lot of stuff from Amazon. Probably 500 things a year. A lot of which are for work before you think I’m completely crazy. I can only think of one issue this year. There might be another one or 2 I’m not thinking of but overall the success rate is very good. Some people claim that amazon is more expensive then other retailers. Not my experience except on very rare bases. I might find something that’s $5 cheaper with $7 shipping but.. even if I did find something a dollar or 2 cheaper hitting the buy with one click button is a lot easier.

I think a lot of people are living in the past with respect to China's capabilities. A country that can do this can make a quality tool. Photos from the Moon's Far Side! China's Chang'e 4 Lunar Landing in Pictures

And falsely automatically assume made in America = good.

Years ago, stuff made in Japan was junk. Not anymore. China does have a lot of junk but they are getting better at producing quality. However, most of the old companies have been bought out, (like Stanley and Craftsman), and profits are being made because of Name Recognition while quality has gone down. It's all about profit. The real old American companies that made good stuff are all about gone. Most have new owners and are overseas.
