geoduck - I appreciate the offer, even if in jest. However, if I GAVE you the vehicle - I want to remain a friend and would always be concerned about your return, And I've very sure your return would not be under the best of terms. Let us remain friends - I will sell it to somebody who will know exactly what they are getting.

Yes, it was in jest. I thought you were giving it to your son, no?

Honestly, at this point, I don't know. It's a good pickup but it has a "check engine" light on the dash. I've had Napa run a free diagnosis. Something to do with the fuel management system. He already has his own debts and doesn't need another problem. I will probably just sell - as is - give him the money. That way, neither of us has the problems.

I found that the tire pressure monitoring system is gov mandated on the PW. Got the same on my motorcycle. Worthless - if you don't keep track of tire pressure, you probably don't monitor your engine oil either. A lot of folks are going to do a whole lot better in driverless autos. The driverless auto will do fine as long as there is a place to plug in their cell phones or other electronic devices.

Not sure why monitors are gov mandated. I thought the manufacturer had to mandate them because of their corroding aluminum wheels. Sometimes it could be a week, other times a month but you can count on those bad boys corroding and leaking air around the bead of the tire. However, manufacturers are saying there is nothing wrong with the rim.

Didn't the previous president make a big deal about gas mileage being affected by over/under inflation of tires? Wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that to be the reason. The govt seems to want to make it all efficient at any cost.

I believe that mandate came out of the Firestone/exploding Explorer fiasco. Who'd a thunk that you need to check your tire pressure occasionally?

Or is that there could be any kind of problem with the vehicle manufacturer setting the tire pressure to be too low for the weight put on them based on the tire manufacturers recommendations (so they didn't have to spend an extra $10 per vehicle on suspension)...

I just read up on it and realized my error. That is what lead to the TMS requirement, however. It does appear in addition that there were problems from tires coming from one plant during certain shifts. I don't know if they were letting quality control slide to keep the numbers up, or what lead to the problem.

Ford had under inflation numbers to soften the ride, Firestone got the blame!

Lots of folks bought those same tires, inflated them "properly" and never had a problem with them.

The PW comes with Wranglers. Made a deal with the Les Schwab dealer. I'll call him when the truck gets here. He will swap out the Wranglers for Toyo Open Country MT 8 ply. I'll pay the difference. Always had Toyo tires. Great tires.
