1000 FT LB of Torque

Oh no, my old 2015 Ram only has 865ft/lbs of torque. I suddenly feel less manly when I’m next to the 1k pickup. Well, not really but I will say having more torque while pulling is safer since you can maintain speed up a hill, or accelerate and merge better...

I kind of took it for granted that people were being dumbed down. Just stupid consumers. Then, I was watching some 1950s car ads. I take that back. I think people were always that stupid.

Speaking of which, when are the fins coming back?

The real question is...will the new torque management suck as bad as the prior version of torque management.

Wimp.... I'd meet you at 20 paces but my Camry has a dead battery....

I suspect some of you folks criticism of those that have these power pickups is pure jealousy.

I have what I have, want what I want and will justify neither to anyone.

I think the industry is asking the wrong question. The question they keep asking is: Do you want more power? The answer people keep giving (with their money) is YES!!!
What I want someone to ask is what is the "Right" truck for 80% of people. I think a less expensive, 6 cylinder diesel, tow capable, high gas millage truck would be a major hit for a company. Much like the mini-van was years ago. Not too sexy and not much to brag about, but everyone would buy one!!!

100 percent want it for the wow factor. I’ve pulled my backhoe with a 2005 Duramax that I doubt is over 500 fp of toque. There’s plenty of medium duty trucks with less power than that. 35 k towing behind a 1 ton is insane. I pull 22 k behind a 1 ton dually and I’d hate to add 50 percent more. The good thing is not many people have trailers that heavy.

I don't think that 100% want it for the wow factor. I would agree with the statements that most of these vehicles will not be used to their potential and there will be a lot of bragging done by fanboys.

The biggest issue I see is none of the diesels, from the last few years, can stay out of the shop. It seems the ones worked the hardest have the least problems, but I don't know of any of the big three that can make it out of warranty without a lot of small issues or some small issues and some big ones.

The HP and TQ numbers, at this point, are largely academic. There's so much computer management going on, you rarely get to really tap into the engine's capabilities. It's more about sales and bragging rights, than capabilities. No matter how you sell it, attaching 30K+ to a vehicle that weighs less than 10K is a recipe for a lot of wear and likely some surprises that will fill your underpants with unhappy sauce. The vast majority of people trying to pull that much, daily, will be better served with a heavier truck than a "one ton".

Bottom line is, IF you don't want the 1,000 pound feet of torque, don't buy it! It's an "option", you don't have to buy it.

They also offer a Cummins with a bit less torque...

I see someone gets my point! I love it! This is America and if someone builds it and the customer wants or needs it, by all means go for it, let the haters say what they want. I still think Prius owners are pusscakes though!
