Snowplow for Kubota RTV900

The Boss V-Plow on my X900 is terrific. It mounts easily so taking off and putting on is only a 1 minute job. The hydraulics are quick and easy to use. I love plowing with it. Unfortunately the X900 is not designed to carry that load. I installed heavy-duty shocks (the dealer told me when I purchased the package that I didn't need the extra shocks- WRONG!). After two plowing seasons the bumper on the X900 snapped. When I spoke with the Kubota dealer they said that this has been a problem and I am one of a few who have experienced this. I am very conservative with my plowing - the problem is just fatigued.

Many moons ago I and a few friends plowed driveways with 1960's era Willy's jeeps. The popular plows of the day were Meyer, Fisher and Western. Fisher was IMO the best built, heavy duty plow of the three. There was a problem. Because of the added weight of the Fisher, the front springs needed to be built up and weight had to be added to the rear so the tires wouldn't spin while in 2WD. I suspect the front end would also suffer under the strain.
Because of these issues, everyone I knew with a Jeep ended up running the lighter weight plows.

The Boss V plow, looks to be great unit, it just may be too much weight for a X900 to handle. If that's the case, then shame on Boss for not informing their customers.

I have a Kubota 1100 with a 60" Kubota blade. I had trouble getting it to angle back to the right. It worked, then didn't then did..now dosent. I used it the last small storm we had..and IMO, its to slow and the blade to small for me. My truck does in 1 pass what it takes the Bota 4 passes to do.

I can see the Boss sagging a machines suspension but not cracking a bumper....at least on my Boss V plow setup on my Gator 825i there are multiple tie in points on the frame...I've been plowing with my Gator since new in 2012...first with an Eagle V plow with winch lift and for the last 3 or 4 seasons with the Boss V hydraulic plow and my Gator 825i is no worse for the wear....it handles everything thrown at it very well. The Boss is a beast I needed the extra height of the mold board and the hydraulic V setup for some of the large storms we get in Maine....the deepest snow I've tackled with my Boss was a 28" storm last year....it's the first time snow has come over the top of my plow....I needed to do the driveway once and then do a high speed cleanup for spillage the second time but it still handled everything with ease. I'm a believer in the Boss UTV plow the weight helps scrape better and the taller mold board makes plowing faster.

I would expect the frame setup on a X900 to be very close in strength to my Gator and I'm betting if the bumper cracked it was just as likely to crack without any plowing...if the dealer has heard of that type of break before there was probably an escape of bad bumpers at some point that happened.
