Still waiting? Or are you out running around having too much fun to update?

I know a little about this waiting game, although on a much lower scale. I have been waiting on an automatic mobile antenna controller for almost a month. I was told "it is on backorder" by the manufacture. I called on Monday, and asked when I could expect it? She replied, she had no idea and would hate to tell me a lie. So I said, could you call down to the manufacturing line and ask them when they might bother to make one? She did, and came back in a couple of minutes and said it will ship Friday. We shall see.

The PW arrived in Spokane on 1/23/2019 and is now sitting in the rail road holding yard. Problem is, ALL vehicles for all brands are in this same holding yard. I called the dealer for an update this afternoon. He said he would call and try to get the delivery expedited. At least, I know, now, exactly where it is. I also know where it isn't.

For a while I wonder if it was somewhere like China or Pakistan. But it came directly off the manufacturing floor in Saltillo, MX to Spokane.

I've been able to use this time productively. I now have a working proficiency in most of the software programs that will be on the PW. I'm also very aware that most of the subscription software programs won't be something I need or want. If I kept them all it would be something like $475 per year.

Did you delete your last post here Sigarms?? I remember it was '48 or '49. Mom finally broke down and bought me the little tin truck I'd been wanting. Dad was very upset. Not because she had bought the little truck - but that she hadn't checked first. It was made in Japan.

Yes I did. The reality is it had nothing to do with your truck but was a "side comment" and I didn't want to take away from the thread.

However, since you asked:D...

I just didn't know that they're making Dodge in Mexico now. If there was ever an "American" company, Dodge would be one of them in my own mind.

Ironically enough, at about 0630 this morning (while I was reading your last post), was on the phone about an HVAC manufacturer that was bringing out a new 16 SEER line from Mexico. Seems less and less is actually made in the US, and per the post I deleted, you can buy a Toyota (or Honda) that IS made in the United States. Go figure.

Before you know it, it won't be worth anyones time to make things in the US because of the cost of wages vs the cost of sales. BUT, they still of this day make foreign vehicles in the United States. Go figure.

Not to worry. It's hard to "take away" from something that is still locked up in the rail yard storage facility. May haps I should sneak down there at night and check it out. That's OK - it's coming.

Sindenote...

The best Boiler sold in the United States is made in Germany (take my word for it). The same company that produces the steel for the boiler also produced the steel for the Panzer tank.

If the homeowner "looks old", you asked them if they served their country. If they tell you they fought in WWII, you NEVER mention that boiler and where it's made. You sell / offer them a Burnham, Weil McClean (sp?) Dunkirk or Vaillaint (shows you how old I am LOL). Take my word for it, offer a German boiler to someone who fought in WWII, you may hear their opinion.

German manufacturers have something about them that can't be beat. BMW and Porsche come to mind. Can't put my figer on it... That said, both BMW and Porsche are made in the US as well. However, take the best HVAC mini split manufacturer in the world IMO, and they have stuff coming out of Thailand and Mexico as well.

Not in auto biz, but am in manufacturing. Might be that to ship a Kia or whatever from Asia cost + 8-10 weeks transit time, offsets higher US labor rate.

Train ride from Mexico probably nothing vs US labor rate.

Hmmm, a Bederus (sp) perhaps? Painted blue, often with a shiny Riello oil burner on it?

New York at least explains the Riello burner comment, LOL Agway use to use them up there years ago. Swear to God, even in Pa, guys prefer the Beckett over the Riello which I could never understand why. But yes, your right, Buderus, and the Riello burner is one of the best out there because they manufacturer all their own parts (at least they did when I knew them).

Have to laugh, so much for online reviews LMAO
