You know the Russians are going to be opening your garage as soon as you are out of sight.
Won't be the Russians will be the Chinese. The app is from china.

No it does not. I was skeptical at first so I only bought one for the garage that we were having the flo light ballast interference with the remote range issue. As long as your careful..... i mean you can hit the regular one when it is in your pocket and open the door and if your not watching the door close, the dog or cat running through can open it again. There is not any feed back on the old style opener... The phone app solved a lot of issues for us as the old style opener was not cutting the mustard.

As for not going to get me one of those smart phones. I hear you fought it for the longest time. The flip phones actually cost more for service. Also, if you don't have a cell phone these day it is not like there is a pay phone on every corner anymore. Also, when I am out and about on the property by myself, the wife feels better if I have a phone with me. Happy wife happy life.

Got new hearing aids, they are wonderful. you control the volume, type of environment your in, much more enjoyable to go out now. They are controlled through app on my cell phone. I can blue tooth the tv to them such that I can actually hear it and understand it. Controlled through the cell phone. If I was older I might be able to say, "to old to learn the new stuff" just not the case. I didn't just jump into the cell phone app deal. It was a pretty much, if you can't beat'm gone'm. I mean I have clocks I don't bother to adjust for day light savings time. The one on the stove put black tape over.

You argument for cell phone has one major flaw... I HAVE NO CELL PHONE SERVICE AT MY LOCATION.... Not yelling just for emphasis...

Actually you don't need cell phone service. The phone would just need to connect to your wifi network when it gets into range. I use an old cell phone in the loader with the app on it, no cell service. I used it for music just added the app, plugged into the cig lighter. Need to be a little patient with it while it finds the network, but works well. It was already there so why not try it.

Actually you don't need the internet. You just have to have the app on a cell phone and have it connect to your wifi network. So, for those of you that are worried about it working when it is 40 miles away use an older phone, that has no cell service and have it connect just to you wifi network. As for internet reliability..... don't need it for system to work. May have to hang out in front of the garage door while the phone connects to your wifi network but it will work.

So what you are saying is, even though you are an old dog, you went over to the dark side and embraced modern technology?. Yeah, me too and a long time ago. :) Wouldn't enjoy life near as much without a smart phone. The old Star Trek tricorder doesn't have a thing on a good smart phone. It is hard to fathom how many applications there are for one.

I almost forgot about no cell phone service . No high speed internet. Oh yea no garage door opener either . To me its just as easy to lift a handle as it is to press a button. I have a brand new garage door opener but my garage is a wood shop. I was constantly cleaning and adjusting electronic eyes.I just got pissed off an pulled the trolly release and that's that. One nice thing about living in the woods is we don't lock anything. If they wan't in their gona get in a lock aint gona stop them.:drink:

Now a good gate opener may be ok.... Keeps the relatives that are to lazy to walk the 350 feet to house from the road.....

Most of the technology in my house just sits there as it is easier for me to just do something then to find the controller discover the batteries are dead and the auto mechanism is jammed.... Spent 38 years building systems that brings you the technology and come to conclusion that its only function is to separate you from your money faster under the guise it make your life easier....

If I have no cell service why should I buy a phone to open garage door when it has its own remote.... Screw WIFI....

Here is another version that is a buck and a half cheaper with a much simpler looking board.https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071GCDGQ...&pd_rd_r=5ab124cc-27c5-11e9-be65-17f4f8daa818

Actually thinking about trying one on my gate. I also want to rig up a camera on the gate. An intercom feature would be nice too but I can use cell for talking.

The remote may be nice but like on my garage door it takes proprietary button to open door from inside not just set of "closed" contacts from relay...
