Smart battery chargers with reconditioning modes

Looks like a well-reviewed product ur.

Please post about any batteries that you recover with it, I'm guessing ;) that you have "1 or 2" around....

Rgds, D.

I have two batteries that I would love to try...

Thought the charger would have reached me by now but still in transit.

I hear of how fast folks get things just seems to always take longer.

At work I can order from Grainger in the afternoon and often will have it the next day and freight included with the commercial account set up... kind of spoils one.

Ugh, ya' Canada would suck for shipping. But, I do come up to Toronto a few times a year. Maybe if you are around there it would work out. But, it sounds like it's more than just the switch on it. Mine is still working ok but I noticed I had to 'tweek' the contacts in the removable connector portion recently due to corrosion or loose connections in there as it was intermittently flashing the full and 1/2 battery levels rapidly. Tweeking the contacts fixed that. They seem to be good battery chargers though overall. And I haven't had a battery quit yet since I've started using them regularly on my tractors, ZTR, and snowmobile.

Steve

The first one to crap out on me just wouldn't light up under any condition so threw it out. The other started acting up by not switching to maintenance mode, at first unplugging and re-plugging would solve the problem but over time nothing I did could massage the unit into maintenance mode. This problem also coincided with the button switch issue. Took the button switch apart at least 3 times to in an attempt to fix but nothing. Was also aware of the soldering in of an outboard switch but just wasn't motivated to do so. I do still have this unit tucked away in a cabinet if you want it. I'm in Canada though so shipping may deter you despite the unit being no cost.

Would you still have that PN for the switch handy ?

My 3300 is down, after at least 5 years of steady use....... I'd seen some posts about possible out of spec caps, and had been too lazy to tear into mine...... if it's just a basic switch, that should be an easy fix....

Rgds, D.

Not sure what that number was. I just took the switch out of it and went down to the store (not there now as they all closed around here) and matched it up. It is an easy fix. You might find another one at Mouser Electronics online. I'm sure there's a thousand switches to look at but I'm sure someone would have it.

Sorry,
Steve

OK... so it did arrive... took a long time but arrived.

Had a car that was parked almost a year... just parked... battery stone dead.

Took out my new charger and nothing... which I expected.

So I get my jumper cables and connect in paraell from my car... so juice is flowing... hook up the new charger and now have life.

In 36 hours it has gone through several permutations de-sulfate, test, de-sulfate... last night it shows fully charged and good to go... car starts fine.

To fully report I will need to bring my load tester to see just what kind of reserve capacity a 5 year old battery brought back from the Dead has... AC Delco Battery.

It can take weeks of being connected to the charger to fully bring back a heavily sulfated battery.

The Lazarus Charger ! Liking it !

Does it have a long-term De-sulphate mode/setting ? More time in that mode may help a batt sitting that long.

Post the load-test results when you can, that will be interesting. Add years to a couple of batteries, charger is paid for, right there....

Charger is fully automatic except for charge rate and type of battery...

I might head over today as I just got a call asking if I had left a window open...

Just ran a 300 amp crank test for 1 minute...

Battery dropped to 10 volt but held steady.

Put charger back on and it is in full charge mode.

PS for those following my other thread on WiFi this picture and post made courtesy of my neighbors WiFi

I had to rotate the laptop twice to get a steady signal but success!
