It is one of three main assembly plants for the next generation of GM's large pickups and sport utility vehicles, including plants in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Flint, Michigan. Engines for trucks made in Silao come from GM factories in Flint; Spring Hill, Tennessee; and Tonawanda, New York.Jan 15, 2018

And my more basic question. Why would I want to "pair up" my iPhone anyhow.

I called SiriusXM tech support. The poor fellow on the other end just could not comprehend that I wouldn't want/need SiriusXM Guardian. Hey, it's FREE. I tried to explain - what good is FREE or "it costs a million dollars" if I don't have cell phone service at this remote location( my home). It was simply outside his box.

I have found that about 75% of the areas where I go will have no cell phone service. As the tech at Iridium said - " there is always satellite phone service". Yeah - when my next boat comes in.

Well, if you don't have cell service then there really isn't a point, but assuming you have service then there are various reasons why pairing your phone would be useful. Taking calls hands-free via the vehicle's audio system is a big one. Receiving messages and having them read to you (again, hands-free and you don't have to look at your phone) is nice. The biggest one for me is the ability to stream audio and other media via Pandora, Amazon Music, iHeartRadio, etc.

I found it ironic, when I bought my Ford Ranger the very first year that they made them. Somebody was giving me crap about buying a truck that wasn't made in the USA, (it was) so I pointed to the sticker on his GMC which said "Made in Canada."

I (actually I had the salesman do it) paired my cell to my truck, and it's really handy... Well worth the time to do it, and I'm not much of a phone guy at all...

Yep, one of the best features of my Silverado. The audio quality over the speakerphone is just superb. Way better than the built in speakerphone of the phone, which is good in a room, but lacks a bit of punch in a mobile.

When I had the Samsung flip phone I RARELY took the phone with me when I left the house. No reason to have it - I wasn't going to call anybody & nobody was going to call me. I really don't see that there will be much change in that. Even with this new smart phone.

I'm certainly not the type to carry it on my hip - like a six gun. I have never found anything so very important that I need instant notification. Now that I'm beginning to see what it's all about - I may just give the new phone to my son and go back to the old flip phone.

I only turn on my flip phone when I leave the house. It is my contact with 911, if needed .

See, now that is a legitimate reason for having a phone with you, Xfaxman. I guess part of the reason I seldom take the phone out of the house is because I'm usually here on my property. No connection at the house - no connection out on my property.
