Did you get another Costco battery?? In the market and was going to go there today!
Yes, same interstate battery. Their old kirkland batteries were great, interstate not as great. But no questions asked return. I told them it died.
Night before i charged it, vehicle started fine. Yesterday morning it was dead again. No shorted cells registered on the charger.

Poured first cup of coffee. 30° with freezing rain this morning. Heading to 39° with rain stopping in afternoon. Nasty mix of snow then rain. But it is not the slick stuff we got a couple weeks ago. Should all melt by end of tomorrow. Need to clean up shop and barn from yesterday's projects. Will use extra care while going between buildings.

Finally has come to me why my arm is not working as well as it should after PT. It has been so long (over a year) since I have used my right like it should be used. I find myself doing things with my left arm when I should be using my right arm. I have one Dr appointment and one PT visit left this week. Then I am on my own.

David, good project pictures.

Buckeye, why do batteries go bad when you need them the most? :confused3:

Looking, way to much snow. Be careful.

Good Morning All.

47 going to 63...maybe showers this afternoon.

Great video, RNG...house floating on a cloud of snow fog looked cool. The van looked lonely. :(

BEF, I bought an Interstate battery at Costco for my tractor 2 or 3 years ago to replace the original Kubota one and it is doing great. Hope you just got a rare bad one.

Turns out my day wasn't too bad...no tooth numbing and it still didn't hurt...just gets tiring having a drill going so long grinding down a tooth...temp crown, then perm in 2 weeks. Staple removal was fast after waiting 90 minutes...doctor did a good trick asking me how I got the cut to distract me...used a small tool that looked like a pair of pliers. Thanks for the kind wishes.

Decided to roast coffee when I got home rather than do taxes...weather too nice, 78 on the porch, so roasted outside.

Happy Waitangi Day, New Zealanders!

40 out this AM. High was 74 yesterday. Unfortunate that I was in the city. Well, maybe not unfortunate. The SO had and now has to maintain the home by herself for a while. She did OK, but I think stresses of family are weighing her down. She is not a happy person anymore.

Anyhow, I got a nice surprise on another project that has been festering for years. I finally found, ordered and received a custom barn window. Found a company on the internet and point-click-buy-one got to me. It came all the way from WI and managed to get here with one pane of glass broken. Wife called the company and they are sending a replacement pane. I order vinyl, as I want to get out of the maintenance business. Looks like I'll be ordering 25 more! I stashed some beer money up over the years and tried to surprise the wife with that. I think she likes that, so the barn will be all closed up in a month or so. All I need to do now is fix up the old siding and it's a brand new 100 year old barn!

Heading to the city again this AM. Real work is no fun, now I know why I retired a few years ago. I feel like I am working for someone else instead of me now. Guess debt does that to a man.

Have a great day all, be safe.

Glad your day turned out good. I am procrastinating on doing taxes. Maybe next below freezing day.

Good morning! Warmest morning of the year at 67 ˚F before sunrise. It will be a cloudy day getting up to 77 ˚F.

Trail blazing and pickle ball classes will take up most of the day. Tomorrow I will have to make some garden time to sneak in some seat time.

RNG, I showed my wife the hummer video and with the music build up she thought there would be a multitude of hummers storming the feeder. But I was impressed because of the solitude of the lone hummingbird staying behind and not flying to warmer temperatures.

Good Morning!!!! 35F @ 4:15AM. Mostly cloudy skies early, then partly cloudy this afternoon. High near 45F. Winds light and variable.

I feel your pain, Rip. Nine years in retirement and I'm probably unemployable. The idea of having someone else tell me what to do makes me shudder. Hang in there, man.

BTW, I've a buddy that's an engineer at a custom window company in Wisconsin, and wonder if it's the same company you used for your window?

Wng, 78 on the porch roasting coffee, or doing taxes? You deserved that reward after the morning you had!

I've come to the same realization with my face muscles, Ron, and am trying to chew food more on the paralyzed right side. And I think it's helping get those muscles used to working again. Whistling is another "exercise" that's helping, too. Strange to be thinking along those lines, but whatever works...

Haven't received a refund from the battery that went bad on the Christmas motorcycle trip, so I called Digikey yesterday to ask why. The gal there confirmed that it had been received, but has not yet been "evaluated". My guess is that by the time they get around to "evaluating" it, it'll be good'n'dead. But I should get interest on that $110 investment. I've only had so-so luck with Interstate and Westco batteries, even the AGM versions. I had good luck with the first pair of deep discharge marine batteries I got at Walmart, but the two year old one in the Kubota side-by-side isn't holding a charge the way it should and is spending too much time on the Battery Saver. Maybe part of the problem is that lead is no longer refined in the US, and perhaps the recycling process isn't yielding the high quality lead that it should.

Also got in touch with AT&T to ask why the land line isn't fixed yet. That gal told me it's been diagnosed as a "cable problem" and is awaiting assignment to a field crew, with a new completion date of 2/28. I responded that I'd gotten the same story when I called at the beginning of January, and asked that the repair be "escalated". She promised I'd get a call back from a supervisor either last night or this morning, and I'm still waiting.

Got a response back on the leaking skylight on the van, and took more pictures of the seal so the tech could get a better idea of what's going on. In the process I noticed that parts of the lift mechanism are pressing down on the seal and distorting it, and very likely causing the leak. It'll be interesting to see what the tech has to say.

As expected, all the snow except that in deep shadow, mostly on north facing slopes, was melted off by sundown yesterday. The sprouting weeds didn't seem to mind the snow blanket at all, as they're greener than ever and growing like, er, weeds! And yes, Drew, there's an awful lot of downed wood out there. I'm gonna be in pretty good shape by the time summer rolls around if I can get it all bucked and split.

Today's liable to have the best weather for another week, so I think I'll dive under the van and get a couple of leaking oil seals replaced. Then get some things ready for a trip into town tomorrow, which will include trailering the new-to-me motorcycle to the DMV to get the title transferred over to me. Not sure I'll register it just yet; there's a lot of work to be done before it'll be road worthy again and I don't wanna waste money on insurance if I'm not gonna be riding it.

Happy Hump Day, folks!

You are the one that needs to be careful with that ice.
Do you have any wood ashes?
No wood ashes. The snow fell first. The freezing rain. This caused about 3/4" crust. Easy walking. But still need to be careful. Spread some ice melt on walkways. School is closed again today.
Kids may not get out of school until July this year.
