Im hoping -2 haa an improved oil seal, too. My tax refund will have to pay for it.

I hope they did an improvement on #2 unit. I am working with a hydraulic shop that is close by. That seal company I spoke with wasn't sure about the quad ring being used, but they didn't know what to recommend, or would fit. They didn't have a tech department like their website says. I found all the seals, quad ring and O-rings on the internet, I just wanted a hydraulic repair shop's advise. I'll post my results, soon, I hope.

The "- 2" is the one I took apart to photograph & measure the seals. As you can see, there's no "improvement". I believe that since they use this part in several tractors that they are just assigning one part number to cover all and thus this is a "superseded" part #. So, you (we) spend our hard earned money only to end up with the same thing and (as I've stated earlier ) you only get a 90 day warranty on new parts.

Ill check for leaks when i get it installed. I may do it before i put the steering wheel on and make a video. Do you just tighten the hose connections pretty tight or do you torque them.

Each hose connection should have an O-ring, at lease mine did. The O-ring goes on the fitting ends at bottom of the SINJIN unit. Make sure the O-rings are installed. If not, new O-rings should be installed. You could use the old ones, but I wouldn't. With O-rings being used in the fittings, just tighten these fittings tight, or wrench tight. I don't believe a torque wrench is necessary. The O-ring does the sealing and the fitting goes metal to metal when tight. That's my opinion only and if someone else believes torqueing these fittings is proper, that's fine with me. The picture shows the O-rings, somewhat.

I assumed SINJIN had improved the seals being used. I think you're right about why the changed the part number. TYM Tractor did the same. I priced all the seals and O-rings for this unit and it will cost around $20 for them, and that's for seals made of a better material, higher temp. There is nothing wrong with this unit, other than crappy seals being used and a poor seal design. You would think a company with the skill and intelligence to design and build these PS units would be smart enough to figure out the proper seals required to make it leak proof. I guess not. Job security for South Korea.

Maybe when Kim Jong-un takes over South Korea things will greatly improve.................. NOT!

Kim is a fool! I don't think he would know what a seal is. Probably thinks it's a fury sea animal. Hey DirtHauler, when you ordered your seals, what did you purchase to replace the quad ring? Another quad ring? I found Viton quad rings and the correct size, but I was hoping these seal people could come up with a better seal. Even if it would require machining the housing in order to accept a different seal. I looked at Parker Hydraulics website. They make all kinds of thing, including PS units like what we have. I looked at several of their unit schematics and the inner seals they use are not quad rings. In fact, they don't even show quad rings being used on a rotary shaft. I sent off a letter to their technical department. They have several seals that are very close to what we need. I hope they have some good advise. http://ph.parker.com/us/en/rotary-seal-praedifa-series-or-polon/or022003300161b

I went back to my original dealer to buy the PSU. Newer farmers coop dealer kept not returning my calls, mechanic not at work today, etc. They do more parts volume. Part already back yesterday. Getting it today.

Hey DirtHauler, when you ordered your seals, what did you purchase to replace the quad ring? Another quad ring?[/url]

I know it was a little misleading, but after visiting three different bearing/hydraulic shops, non of them had the "quad ring" in stock but had everything else. All said they would have to locate and order it (quad ring) and it would be at least a week out! Well being in the middle of "tractor season" and a back log of work when this last HSU decided to go out, I threw in the towel and had a new HSU sent over night (kaaching!) So this why I have one torn apart and one still together. So one of these days I'll get around to re-sealing the one I took apart but for now I'm trying to finish all my other "winter projects" i.e. change out the new gear pump with another new pump; figure out if I can change out the PTO counter shaft bearings with out tearing the whole tractor apart along with the "honey do" list. I'm starting to feel like a collector of HSUs gone bad!
