Hey folks, I’m new to the forum and had a question. I just purchased an L275 4x4 with FEL no power steering!! I saw some older threads about retrofitting from manual to power or power assist but nothing recent. Can you help a brother out?

We had an L235 my dad bought used when I was a kid. Little brother to yours (same chassis but smaller 23.5 hp engine). It was an excellent tractor that seemed to run forever with just regular maintenance (fluids and filters) until my brother finally sold it to upgrade. It just sipped fuel too compared to the bigger hp newer Kubotas. As far as lack of power steering goes, I do recall it steered like a bear with a full bucket, especially if trying to turn uphill. I never looked into power steering for it, but hopefully someone with some knowledge in that area will chime in. Good luck!

Not the answer you are looking for but this might help. When you are stopped and heading into a sharp turn I used to drop the bucket and pick up the tractor a bit and turn the wheel. New tractor has power steering but the old W4 didn't

Thanks for the good news on fuel savings!!

Yeah, I've been in several pickles where lifting the front up with the bucket to turn tighter helped a lot. Also helps if you bury the front tires to lift the tires out to either fill or put a piece of lumber over the hole...

I’m thinking ballast and use the loader if I can’t retro the steering.
