Hey folks,

I'm picking up a Polaris ranger Crew 570-4 this week and wondering about my current trailer and fitment.

The crew is 142" total length and the wheel base is 105". My current trailer is a 6.5x10. It appears the wheelbase will fit length wise with about 1.2 feet to spare and width wise I've got plenty of room. But the overall length is almost 12 feet so obviously it will stick out a bit. Is it safe to trailer this UTV on this trailer? I hate to go buy another trailer and once the UTV is on the farm I don't plan on moving it to often.

Let me know your thoughts or experience if anyone has ever been in this situation.

Many thanks,

You'll have no adjustment to get the tongue weight right by moving the Ranger fore/aft on the trailer, so it might be unsafe if you plan to tow a long distance and/or at high speeds. And I assume this is not a tandem-axle trailer, so the problem will be even worse. I wouldn't do it. Can you get it delivered? Or borrow a trailer? That would be better than buying a new trailer.

As S219 said, your set up is certainly not ideal...However, to increase tongue weight, I've put other SxS's on my trailer backwards so the motor is forward of the trailer wheels and had the bed of the SxS slightly over the trailer bulkhead. Mine's a tandem 16' and this was to compensate for a 800# quad on the back of the trailer.

Also what is the weight of the Ranger? If you have a single axle utility you could be pushing the weight limits.

Thanks guys,

The trailer is a single axle that can handle 3500 pounds. The Polaris weights in at 1,392 pounds so well under the limit.

I do have to tow it about 22 miles...would you just rent a trailer or go ahead and try mine? I could back the Polaris on it to put more weight in the front but certainley don't want to be unsafe.

I think you’ll be fine. Some people claim you only need 10 percent on the hitch. I personally prefer more but I’d bet the front axel is heavier enough to accomplish that. You’ve also got load capacity to spare. You could adjust the balance with cement bags. I really doubt that is needed though.

I think you'll be fine. Tie it down good and make sure your trailer tires are good and check the PSI--(Sorry an OCD thing of mine). I'd probably back it on if you can (make sure the wind won't lift anything) that'll give you some tongue weight. Either way, keep in under 90 on the bends.

Post some pics too.

I think you'll be fine. If your tongue weight seems low, even a 50# bag of dogfood, or something else you might eventually use will help. I've been known to throw unsplit firewood rounds on my trailer to adjust the balance.

Thanks guys,

The Polaris fell through (they said it just sold) but were happy to put me in another one thats only $1,800 more.....gotta love these dealers.

So I decided to wait and do some additional research. If you have any input on different UTV's for farm work please see my soon to be thread regarding different manufacturers.

Did you put a deposit on it? It's fair game to be sold otherwise.
