Glock 43

Re: Kahr MK9

Personally I think Glocks are ugly things. But what I am looking for is pure functionality (is that a word) to carry in a certain situation where it would have to be deployed quickly from a sitting position. This means a crossdraw holster but concealable.

RSKY

I have no issues with carrying a medium size 9mm sitting in church and accessing it if need be when it's on my shooting side hip for draw. Driving with a seat belt on is another story.

I've come to the conclusion that there is no perfect carry gun for EVERY situation.

The biggest thing that determines what I carry comfortably is how fat I am at my age LOL

Don't see how having those agents killed in Miami was funny? Because of my comment "just plane bad luck" (Edit, should be "plain", luckily to spelling police).

Both killed suspects were expereinced military vets, well armed, and intent. Even though they (the suspects) were outnumbered, they caused a very high causality rate even though they both were killed themselves in the shootout.
Bad luck in that the initial collision sent one firearm at the ready flying out of the car and another agent losing his glasses to the point where it was hard for him to see. Given the whole set of circumstances on how everything went down, bad luck IMO is the best way to describe it.

And that's why they decided the switch to 40 right? I was laughing at you're reasoning of "bad luck" was the cause of the 9mm debate in the situation.

I know you're the resident expert here, well, so you think anyway..

What we all know of the Miami episode is limited at best..

I'm not an expert by any means. Just smart enough to realize that it's our nature not to learn from experience or to admit the obvious when government agencies are involved.

The Miami shootout DID make the FBI look at the caliber of choice as there HAD to be a reason why gunmen, outnumbered 4 to 1, could inflict such as high causulaty rate before being killed themselves.

Once the FBI switched to the .40 (after ditching the 10 pretty quickly), LE agencies followed suite.

No different than guys buying Mil spec, because if it's mil spec, it has to be the best.

What I find amazing is how many "bad guys" weren't killed before the .40 became the FBI's prefered choice by LEO agencies across the US.

We have Police officers all over this country that can't shoot and have no business trying to. I see it at the range once a week. Switching to 40 or any other caliber isn't going to make a difference, blaming the 9 for the Miami thing was convenient.

So ya OP, the 43 is a great little firearm if you like how it feels, the size, capacity and the trigger is to you're liking go for it..

the .357 magnum IS well above supersonic.. .357 Magnum - Wikipedia

My point is supersonic is a variable related directly to velocity, that's it. A standard .22LR shot from a 16" barrel is supersonic. A 230 grain .45 ACP is subsonic shot from the same length of barrel is subsonic. Does that mean a .22LR is more deadly than a .45 ACP because the .22LR is supersonic?

Heck, a .22LR shot from a 6" barrel is subsonic. So perhaps it's not the caliber but barrel length that makes the round more deadly? (I'm being facetious to make a point).

For the record, I'm the kind of guy that would argue that a .380 or .22LR is more deadly if you're more comfortable and can shoot it better than .45ACP, and I own all those calibers calibers.

Also for the record, I've stuck with BOTH the 9mm and .45, even when the .40 was the FBI "in" round LOL
