My State Police uses a .357 magnum (New York).. and btw, the officers shots all hit the suspect!.Sincere question... do you own a .357 and do you shoot it often? I own one, but shoot it for fun and don't carry it.
You talk about a police office having to shoot a suspect 20 times with a 9mm (nah, accuracy has nothing to do with shooting a gun does it) but may I ask you, what police department uses a .357 magnum as standard issue?
Outdoor life? really?

if you look here, the .357 magnum was issued prior to 1990. I haven't kept up on what weapons they used, but the .357 magnum was used for many years.. New York State Police - WikipediaA quick internet search (because I honestly didn't believe you) shows that the NY state troopers are issued a Glock in a .45 ACP caliber.
That said, I also have little doubt that if a .357 magnum were still being issued in some shape or forrm, some guys would be using 38 specials.

It would probably be wise to discard 'supersonic' as any type of measurable and simply state projectile velocities. The speed of sound is not a measurable of any type, and as such, whether a cartridge produces a super/sub sonic projectile is irrelevant.
Prior to 1990?
Math wise, that was 28 fricken years agoWhatch ya talkin about Willis??
I use to live in New York state (notice, I did not say New York City).
When I lived in NY, I use to despise New York City and all of it's surroundings, including albany.
Perhaps some country air (in "upstate" NY) will refresh your line of thinking(aka move out of long island).
Personally, have no use for most glorified highway state troopers myself...
For the record, if the OP likes the G23, BUY the G23!
Apoliges for the train wreck. Bound to happen though when talking about a 9mm LMFAO
