I have said this time and time again. In the grand scheme of things, paying $100 for TV a month is cheap entertainment. Go out to the movies and dinner and your over $100 in one night and you still have 30 days left. I don't watch much in the summer because I'm terribly busy but the winter months are another story.

^^ Aside from a couple of quick lunches, it's been over 20 years since I've even been in a restaurant. Closer to 30 for a theater.

Good point but if I can get enough stations for free, that $100 a month can go towards a tractor attachment

I do not know why I never dug into this before but since my wife is partially deaf and needs a land line to effective hear her galfriends on the phone i thought I was stuck with the Comcast triple bundle. I called once and complained and was told that is the only way to get a land line across my cable feed. I poked around on their website and you can get only Internet and phone.

So ROKU and OTA TV here I come.... should save over $100 a month

The problem I find is the internet alone will cost near $100 after you drop all the TV & phone stuff. They know we cannnot live without internet in this day & age. Kids need it for school work and all sorts of business is now done on the internet much more efficiently.

I have DirecTV at this moment, and I do like it and do not have any premium channels (HBO, Starz etc). However, there is no bundling of internet and cell phone in my area. I pay $145 for satellite, $60 for Spectrum internet, and $110 for two cell phones. Way too much money, in my opinion. DirecTV, as was mentioned on this thread could care less if we leave, so we will leave tomorrow.
Spectrum offered us cable for $120, internet for $40, and cell service (two new phones unlimited data & talk) for $60. All taxes included, and we are financing the phones at 0 percent. (I could buy them but why if they won稚 offer a deal).
The point is, we were loyal to DirecTV and they kept raising costs. At least now we can switch every year if we can get an intro price with no contract. It costs a bunch of money to live today, everything is taxed to death and still going up.
I am the OP and I will fill you in on what went on during the installation. Tech was scheduled for arrival between 10 and 11 this morning, but he did call and say he was backed up and he would be there at 2PM. Then he called at 1PM and said he was on the way. He was a great guy, we talked about our time in the service and I did like him. As soon as I arrived I asked him how many shows I can record at one time and he said 2. I was piss-d because the office selling me the service said the system was upgraded and I could record 6 shows simultaneously and that was the selling point.
So, I called the office on the 都pecial sales number? spoke with a salesman as if I never heard of SPECTRUM and asked the question 滴ow many shows can I record at one time and he said six. I asked him to double check because that would be the deciding factor, he assured me it was 6 shows simultaneously. Then I told him the installation tech was in my living room and he said I can only record two shows at once. The guy hung up on me. I thanked the tech but said no sale, now I have to undo all the contracts I just agreed to but did not activate yet. I called my 都pecial sales number again and asked for a supervisor. The sales lady I spoke with was polite but she said a sales supervisor would do me no good because they just sell, and I needed somebody else. That was the beginning of the run around. I said all I want to do is send back the phones, keep my internet service (very few options in this neck of the woods). She transferred me to another number and I was on hold for 49 minutes.
Meanwhile, my wife was online looking for the SPECTRUM locations nearby where we could just go in person to deal with this. Our only option was in Portland, a 45 minute drive. We packaged the phones and had our coats on when the guy from the 菟hone retention department finally answered and believe it or not was a big help. He said no worries, he will cancel the phones, there is a return label in the shipping box, drop it off at a FedEx box and a refund will be issued when they are received. FedEx box was 5 miles so the phones are on the way.
Lesson learned: I am patient, and I make decisions based on the facts I am given. Lie to me and you have not only made me mad, but you have also ruined the reputation of SPECTRUM. Rant is over.

This got a good laugh from both me and the wife today!
Just last week we had to return a call to her sister and realized we didnt have her latest new number written down in our address book. There is no room to write it in there because it痴 been crossed out so many times.

My wife told her if she changes it even once more that we wont ever call her again!

No joking here in the last 4 years she changed both hers and the brother in laws numer 12 times each! They have lived in the same house for almost 20 years and have now had more than 24 different phone numbers that I am aware of.

Who the heck are they hiding from? That's a lot of numbers. :D:eek::shocked::confused: I've found my tenants usually didn't pay some one or a utility and are trying to obfuscate by deluge. I've been through several carriers, and moved across the country, but I have the same number for 25 years. Maybe some folks aren't aware they can keep their number?

Big "if". For many of us out in the country, OTA tv is not an option any more, or at best limited to one or two channels that may or may not have anything of interest.

Dunno if this works with Comcast, but there is a Spectrum (our cable provider) ap for Roku that lets you use it in place of a cable box, saving $12/mo (or whatever they charge for them). You do still need to be a tv customer, and you only get whatever package you're paying for. The ap can be a bit finicky at times, but 97% of the time it works just fine.
Don't subscribe to any of the pay streaming services, not worth it to me.

Not to ask a stupid question, but why on earth do you need the ability to record 6 shows at a time? Unless you're a hard-core tv addict ISTM that 2 would be more than enough. Or was this whole exercise just an excuse to back out of the contract?

^^ Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. My DVR could only record one and I had trouble finding anything worth watching, let alone recording. A lot of what I did record, I never watched.
