The antenna can receive a signal from 200 miles "IF" the signal is strong enough to reach it, none are. Also the curvature of the earth, trees, hills, buildings, etc are attenuate the signal

The old analog siganl use to travel much further, digital as said is about 60 miles max. Wonder if the new frequencies TV channels are going to will effect distances

You are not going to get 200 mile range, 60 would be good.

I'm lucky to get 30+ with mine.

Sorry to hear that. Suspected the 200 mile claim was a sales gimmick since many other antennas on Amazon claim 150 mile range.

Try this to find out what you may be able to get.

That's a useful link, thanks. All the channels we care about were rated "Moderate".

Unfortunately our house is surrounded by woods and distance is 60-70 miles so the above "Moderate" rating is probably actually "Weak"?

I agree. I bought one off those cheapies just to test what channels I might receive. The amplifier got hot and melted and I junked it, but it indicated that I could get some decent channels. The Channel Master antenna I put in for the permanent install is much better. When it comes to antennas, size matters.

I'm using the same 16' Winegard antenna I had for years. It is mounted on a tower and has a channel master rotator. We normally just keep it in one position though.

Depends on conditions and your location.

I used to live in a tiny town out in the middle of Nevada. 140 air miles to Reno. But the Reno TV stations had their transmitters on a 10,000+ foot mountain. All I had to do was put a good outside antenna on a 20' pole outside the house and got a great signal.

I have this 80 mile Channel Master and get stations from 60 miles away. In my county we have hills, islands, etc to hop over though to get to the towers. So lucky to get the 60 miles. 200 or 150, not a prayer for me even though some of those are mostly over water. As mentioned, the earth curves.

The change in curvature from flat is about 8 inches per mile. 200 miles would equate to 133 feet. That is why transmitters are on towers atop hills but at 200 miles once considering other hills, attenuation at distance, etc., the 133 feet is a lot to overcome. =not happening.
