We laugh at folks that are just now finding out about OTA TV. I have never had cable, wife did for a time growing up, but we have not had cable since we got married and have not missed it.. I just read about a Japanese TV antenna that plugs into power outlet and uses the ground wire structure for an antenna. Haven't decided if it is real or a scam yet..

I have always known about OTA but only now with the cable price increases and the available OTA channels does make more sense. What antenna do you have and how far out are you from the broadcast stations?

How can you just be finding out about OTA? Must have been living under a rock if that's the case.

Over the air quality may get better, but I don't see that the coverage is going to improve. So if you don't get the digital signal now... you won't get it with the change. So I will be stuck with cable or dish of some sort. If SWMBO doesn't have her Fox News or HGTV.... I am in trouble.

That link about the new over the air ATSC 3.0 standard over the current 1.0 was interesting. It did indicate coverage would be improved, more akin to cellular phone coverage so urban and hilly areas would see improved reception.

But this would ultimately would require 3.0 compatible tuners on tv痴 for full accessibility A lot of other details in the story, but whether people continue to switch to over the air antenna tv...things will/are changing in OA...good

Many never lived before zip codes and area codes.

"This concept was first developed for Operator Toll Dialing of the Bell System in the early 1940s, which preceded the North American Numbering Plan of 1947. The North American Numbering Plan (NANP) divided the North American service territories into numbering plan areas (NPAs), and assigned to each NPA a unique numerical prefix, the numbering plan area code, which became known in short-form as area code."

Telephone numbering plan - Wikipedia

"ZIP Codes are a system of postal codes used by the United States Postal Service since 1963. "

ZIP Code - Wikipedia

You'd have to be in your late 70s to remember living without either.

OK...here's a scan of my February bill: $61.93

Flexpak, local, DVR, taxes.....just what I said, except they raised it a buck or two last month, so now it's more than the $60 I said.

Post yours and let's compare. If you're getting it for $46.10, I'm gonna be on the phone to them.

i have direct tv..was gonna cut them off last year, got a roku box and already had netflix. $80-90/ month and I dont' get a lot, but do LOVE my dvr.

I called india to cancel and they offered to cut the bill $50/month. For a year, which is due up next month. I can get direct tv now for $45/month...I may try that.

Likely gonna get amazon prime, got hulu basic for $1/month and shoulda done the full hulu for $20/month...but haven't seen that deal since.

What I watch directtv now seems to be the best option..sling can be cheaper but when I add in the 'can't miss' stuff..no.

MLB tv..tried that as I wanted pirate games BUT while you get every game, yo only get pirate games THE DAY AFTER the game...wtf, why bother?
