RX7320 problems @7 hrs on the meter

I知 a little puzzled as to why Kioti uses the insert type of crankcase heater adapter, but, considering that neither Phillips Temro or Kats list a heater for the Kioti engine, my guess is that there isn稚 room in the water jacket for a traditional toggle / butterfly retention arrangement.

The press fit adapter is probably a way to work around that issue, but is subject to installation related failures.

These seem to be pretty good starting engines without any aids, but I keep mine in the semi / unheated garage, so others may have different experience. I don稚 even use the preheat device (glow plug or grid heater- never documented which it has). Starts immediately and no white smoke.

In the CK30 there is not enough depth to put in a traditional heater with toggle bolt. I assume it is the same across all of the larger engines as well based on the casting design.

If you check out my post# 28 and 39 in this thread you can see what the bushing and install should look like.

Looks like the Kioti started out as a 1.3l engine that was redesigned to a larger, 1.8l version a few years ago. Assuming the bore spacing whakept the same, the barrel cores were modified to maintain cylinder wall thickness, resulting in less room between the barrels.

Net result is that they need to use a somewhat non conventional block heater, and the press fit sleeve.

For clarification are you referring to the RX-7320 engine this thread is about?

Is your last sentence implying/saying the currently in use block heaters do NOT fit the block because of greater displacement engine sizing; which does NOT allow the block heaters to fit the modified block?

I'm understanding it all to mean the problem(s) of blowouts are poor fit between the currently used adapters and the larger displacement engine in the current RX-7320 models, yes?

* note my correction in above quote- to clarify the author's intent.

This (Dealer) seems like the obvious weak link in the whole process, backed up by the dealer admitting this isn't the first one they had back with a loose insert.

In Minnesota anything that doesn't come with a block heater and a climate acceptable T-stat gets a block heater added and a warmer T-stat (as in it starts opening later, but still maintains the regular operating temp) at some point. Block heaters are secured with form in place gasket and I've never had one pop out. If Kioti is calling for Locktite, I strongly suspect they're calling for some special 551 (liquid gasket, a type of form in place gasket) or such, and not the regular thread locker used on bolts.

No, but the RX seems to have four cylinder version of the same engine architecture.

It’s an engine family...

I hope your situation with the engine turns out well.

In regards to your calf, you're not the only one who heats them up in the house. We had one born on February 10th and my wife and the kids brought her in, dried her with the hair dryer and after a short nap, they brought her back to her mother.
Even the dog was happy. IMG-20190211-WA0001.jpeg

We had a rough go of it there for a while with the super cold temps and high winds on top of it. Calves were dead or close to it within an hour if someone wasn't there to take care of them. This has been a really tough calving season for a lot of folks...many ranches around here lost a lot of calves.
One good thing I have going for me is only a few cows that I bought this last fall were bred for February calving. The rest will start calving in the next week or two and weather will be much more forgiving.

Back to the original topic, I received an oil sample collection bottle in the mail from Blackstone yesterday and pulled a sample. I will get that sent out today and have results possibly later this week or next week.

We lost one too. January 30th at -40.

-40*...celcius? Oh, I just went and checked, -40 is the same celcius or farenheit. That's dang cold! We were only about -25 or -30, but we had a 25 mph wind to go with it and that was the clincher! Calves weren't surviving long soaking wet out in those conditions!

During that time, the cold warnings were out and people in the Chicago area were warned, not to take deep breaths to prevent internal frost bite.
I was fighting with a fozen straw bale in the middle of the night to get extra straw in the shelter. I just had to smile.
Stupid advice OR stupid me?
