Where I worked before retirement, the grounds maintanence guys had radials on the graders and loaders. Big difference in traction for snow removal they said.

I guess I am very fortunate, I have never had my R4's stuck in the snow, and only stuck once in mud up to axle depth that I could not let the tractor itself get out of without assistance.

I had R1's on my 8N, and liked them as well.

Since I have not had R1's on my Bobcat, not sure how I would like them

In my area Nokian tires have gained a decent reputation.
Seems they use a softer compound like in quality winter tires that grab on ice.
Similar to what in Quebec are mandatory for winter. (yes, by law U need winter vs all season, subject to fines)
One problem is those soft winters wear out real fast on asphalt come summer.

These look like a better option from Nokian for pure winter tires. I didn't even know they existed.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta TRI / Nokian Heavy Tyres

I'm now running an "All Weather" tire, like the Nokian Hakkapeliitta but from Toyo.

In the USA, so far as I know, there are currently 4 All Weather tires in country. The Nokian Hakkapeliitta, a Goodyear Assuranceョ WeatherReady,, BF Goodrich Advantage T/A Sport LT my chosen Toyo Celsius... I am running the Toyo Celsius, and I am very impressed. I used to run the dedicated winter tires, my last set was ArcticMax, The dedicated winters may do slightly better in the snow and ice, but if so.... barely. But where a dedicated winter would be destroyed in a single summer of driving, the Toyo Celsius gets a 60,000 mile tread wear pro-rated warranty.

They seem to claw in and pull your vehicle exactly like a dedicated snow, and I don't need t have summer/winter tires swapped or buy 2 sets of tires now that these exist. I am going to run these on my work commute car from now on. I am officially converted.

If I am not mistaken, this thread references tractor "winter" tires

With the extra sipes in the tread blocks, I bet they are wonderful on icy conditions.
those look like standard snow tires like you'd see on a car or truck, a lot of rubber to reduce wear on paved roads, a compromise..

Very interesting. I could have used this info about 8 months ago...

I just got back from the farm show in Syracuse, NY. Massey Ferguson had what they said were radial "snow tires" on a 1760M. The dealer I spoke with said he knew nothing about them as they just came out.

Has anyone heard/had any experience with a tire like this? It seems compelling for primarily winter usage, which would be applicable for most of my use.View attachment 593100

I just got a set delivered today, I just had to put them on (before I painted the wheels) to check them out. In the snow at least they seemed to behave equally with pulling power but was better steering. Better means than the regular ag tread with studs. As far as I can see they are fairly equal so far, and should far out last them with all the rubber contact.

I see a lot of them now on backhoe's & road graders for better road service life. It's early but I can see a pair of them on the rears when they need replacing. From my limited "shopping" for this style tire, I did well @ $1400/pr. delivered and on wheels. They are new "take offs" from a sprayer but still had the fine rubber "hairs" on the sidewall & tread.
