Moron Parks in Front of Fire Hydrant

I have never heard of such a story and I find it highly unlikely to happen from a reasonable cop.
I would at the least contest it

The law says that you must yield to an emergency vehicle running the flashing lights, doesn't it? You have to choose, and I would argue that the "yield" provision takes precedence.

No hydrant involved---
I was stopped at a red light with a truck on my right side.
No cars in the other direction stopped or otherwise, actually a very lightly traveled street in a quiet neighborhood.

Up behind me comes a fire truck whooping, beeping and sirens screaming, OK I get the hint and move out of his way but to do so I need to cross the red light.

Cop car is in the intersection and gives me a ticket for $150.00 and I lose 3 demerit points.
Citation is that I ran a red light!

I never contested it as I know the routine------
Judge did you or did you not cross a red?
Yes, but with explanation!
Judge, running a red and you admitted that in my court, GUILTY!
Next!

Sound like a small town racket, could you appeal the judges decision

Yes, but not if you create a bigger hazard doing it. Was this a divided road with a median? Mulitilane road with opposing traffic lanes? One way street with only two lanes?

Usually the Rig will pass left of center around stopped traffic to approach an intersection. But there are instances where that isn't possible.

Most states have a statute saying that you are to obey the instructions of a fireman, it would seem that by clearing the intersection you would be obeying the instructions of the fireman given by way of the siren, horn and lights on the fire truck...

Just remember that Piloon is in Canada, so the laws/courts might be a little different up there.

So being Canadian means that law enforcement throws out rules of common sense?

I've heard that story before. It makes you wonder what you were supposed to do.

Well I tell U I don't move anymore!

Wife had a fire truck honk and wail at her to move, she could not due to other vehicles so they bumped her out of the way.
Cost her a nice repair bill!
(we have 'no fault here' so everybody pays his own damages no matter who caused them, and guess what, the truck had no damage!)

I also learned from an atty that nobody is exempt from stop signs, even emergency vehicles although they are tolerated (birds of a fether flock together).

Here is another for U.
Winter road conditions exempt road depts from any legal responsibilities. (Read pot holes, icy surfaces etc.)
Moral is stay home 'til summer!
