I reach 75 in a few weeks and old injuries from rugby and horses falling down are felt more than they used to be. I have always (I hope) thought about safety issues when doing anything. My knees can give way from time to time and so a couple of years ago I stopped using chainsaws - a face full of moving chain is probably not good for the complexion. I no longer climb ladders either. I made a "cherry picker" for the tractor link box and use that for picking the higher branches of olive trees.
A bad fall when visiting England a year ago means my right shoulder is not so good anymore and I cannot lift heavy weights so do not attempt to do so. I try to plan things so that I do not have to mount and dismount the tractor too often in a day. Just commonsense things really.
I have also decided I want to retire and spend a few years fishing in the Azores.
