Maybe I wasn't clear. The hole is drilled, The part is heated RED and the easyout applied. Just a cheap junky one. I do like the welded on washer better though.

It also depends on a mans resourses. People ask for help but don't say what they have to work with. Probably, if he had all kinds of fancy resources, he wouldn't be asking for help.

Agreed. When I was a lad and explained my broken bolt problem to an engineer friend of my father, the engineer said I needed a "spark disintegrator" knowing full well such a device was beyond my means. (Google "JerrysBrokenTap") I still cannot rationalize purchasing one, but it sure would be "nice to have".

Good news; bad news; can live with it for now. I got the steering return line made up locally and got it installed with no leaks in the original orientation so that it no lower rubs on the hood support bracket which caused the original abrasion leak. Then worked on the sheared off bolt after make-shift soak bath in a penetrating oil. Tried a counter-clock-wise small chisel, carbide, titanium and left handed drill bits, ran the tractor to heat the manifold, allowed to cool. Tried everything again. No luck on the bolt. For today, with the sun setting, wind blowing and temp falling (both outside and beer) and salmon on the grill.......I hammered out a strip of sheet metal I had to mock up a temporary support and shut it down for the night. A buddy boasts about his welding prowess both torch and mig. If my make-shift support rattles or allows too much play I'll invest more time on getting this

Probably some nice, ice cold, white wine would go better with the Salmon. Is there anything better? Oh that crispy skin! And my famous home fries with fried onions.

I re-read the op's first post several times before I formulated my reply. I fully realized that he was "not equipped to weld" I went with my recommendations anyways because this is not a fool around type of job. Last I checked welders were portable and so are tractors.

My recommendation for wax is because I love the way the heat draws it in around the threads.The bolt cools and the wax just flows right to the bottom of the threads.

To the op: I like your work around.

Yup wax is one of the best lubricants I've found for seized bolts, used it all the time when I was working as a machinist for an engine builder to remove galley plugs, especially the tiny ones from aluminum heads.
Most candles didn't work as well, we always used a chunk of beeswax, seems to draw in better and stays put.

Oh no, a wine snob.. How is the salmon prepared? BBqd, I would choose a wheat beer (My choice Blue Moon). Cedar planked, an IPA would be appropriate (Dales Pale). Salt stone would be better with a bourbon barrel ale (Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale) or a bourbon barrel stout (Goose Island).

I have a swamp full of Cedar and my lady friend goes out and buys this little cedar plank to cook fish. That didn't go over well, neither did her notion of putting maple syrop on the fish. I just use pepper and Dill. And SKIN. You couldn't give me fish without skin!

Not a wine drinker, but tend to switch to a glass or two while the BBQ is going and my lady friend is having some. And none of that Canadian Swill. Usually some well priced Chilean.

Get the manifold hot with a torch then use a mig welder and build up the broken stud enough to reverse it out with a nice sharp pair of Vise Grips. If the bubble gum breaks off simply pinpoint your mig gun and hit er again. Practice makes perfect.

I do this all the time in the land of salt.

Looks like it's not to late to save the green machine.
