Ok so I?m out trying it again and nothing. So I thought I would check and see if it would seat to the overrun clutch that it was attached to when on my older Yanmar. And it does?

So I tried to attach the overrun clutch to mtv359yt PTO shaft and no luck ?

I thought these were the same size? Could I need a different shaft?

See pic

That doesn't look seated to me. The collar didn't slide forward.

This type isn’t the black collar sliding forward it’s push the metallic part back and it seats immediately
I can’t iull it off then I push the metal back and it slides right out !

RUMBLON.....Does the splines on your PTO shaft fit the tractor splines? If so, are you saying that the PTO shaft can't slide on far enough for the locking mechanism to click in? If that is the case, then, either the PTO shaft coupler is not deep enough or the tractor side is too long or the groove is not in the right location. One of them does not comply to universal PTO standards....is this what you are asking?

If my above post is correct, a bunch of us can measure the depth of our couplers and length of the shaft on the tractor (end of shaft to start of groove or groove center line). That way you could figure out which side is not "standard".

I GOT IT

Talked to the Yanmar guy I bought the new tractor from. He said since I had the shaft start to slip it in the PTO and take a big hammer and pound it on lightly. It worked but then I had to pry it off. Did that several times but it still won’t just slide on and attach.

So I pound it back in and realize the only way to to do it is to drop the three point, line up the two shafts, slide them in while muscling in shaft and sliding the whole auger forward, they lift up the whole thing and attach the three point. Not ideal but it’s on ! So the Yanmar guy basically said it’s a brand new PTO shaft and it’s just very tight! It should wear a bit and become easier he says!

I want to thank everyone. I went out and dig two quick holes and it’s working. Live and learn I guess. Thx again!
