Fallon,

are you planning on using a pressure relief valve to limit the force or just a stroke limiter. I took a closer look at my ssqa after taking the bucket off for the first time and it seems a lot simpler to implement now that I see how the handles are made.

The problem I see will be sourcing a cylinder with the right stroke length and attaching it to the handles. You can't bolt the cylinder onto a bracket because both handles need to move. unless we use two smaller cylinders

Limiting the force could be an issue if I can't find a relief valve that adjusts low enough. I wouldn't want to mangle the pins that move into the lower bracket if for some reason the attachment was not aligned properly before actuating the locking mechanism.

I got the smallest cylinder I could to minimize pressure. I do have a crossover relief valve to install, but I more got it for my hydraulic post hole digger & was planning on setting it to 2,500psi or so.

On my linear actuator build I measured out the stroke length & got the actuator based on that. It was to short, but I made mounting brackets to fit. I made them adjustable, so could tweak it so it bottomed out the actuator before hitting stops on the handles.

As the setup goes over center to hold the SSQA pins in place there is extra motion in the system. The actuator/cylinder will hold things in place if it stops a bit soon before the handles would go over center
